Westfield 2016 OF Milo Beam Picks Purdue

Milo BeamMilo Beam, a 6-foot-3, 170 pound Junior outfielder from Westfield High School, recently committed to Purdue University and Head Coach Doug Schreiber.  Beam, a member of Team Indiana at this year's Future Games, is an athletic player that ran a 6.61 60 at the Future Games workout this August.  The 22nd ranked Beam moves well in the outfield with the ability to run down balls in the gaps.  At the Future Games workout the left-handed hitter registered an exit velocity of 85 mph and was 83 from the outfield with carry.

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Purdue? 

Beam: It was the right fit for me as a baseball player and it's close to home.  

PBR: When did you take your first up to West Lafayette? 

Beam: April 20, 2014.  

PBR: Where did the Purdue coaches first see you compete? 

Beam: They came to see me play against Zionsville in May.  

PBR: What do the coaches expect from you when you first arrive on campus? 

Beam: They expect me to compete and constantly improve as a baseball player.  

PBR: Were there any other schools you were considering? 

Beam: I was also considering Coastal Carolina.  

PBR: You played for Team Indiana at this year's Future Games, describe your experience participating in that event. 

Beam: The Futures Games was an amazing event, not only because we got to showcase our skills to countless scouts, but we also got to meet new faces and compete with the best players in Indiana on our team.  

PBR: You play for the Indiana Prospects in the summer, describe your experience playing with them.  

Beam: Playing for the Prospects is a great experience. We play the best competition in the country and have countless opportunities to showcase our talents. Since there are only a few Indiana players it's always cool to play with people from all over.  

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you've faced within the state of Indiana? 

Beam: Grant Sloan 

PBR: Now that you've committed, what are your goals going forward as a HS player? 

Beam: Just to keep constantly improving in every aspect. The road doesn't stop here. 

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player? 

Beam: My parents and Shane Stout, I wouldn't be where I am without all they have done to make it possible.  

PBR: What was a highlight moment from last season? 

Beam: The highlight of my year would be the BCS Finals in Fort Myers where I batted .500 and had a .706 OBS. Also the 17u WWBA in Emerson where I batted .400 with a .504 OBS
