The Prep Baseball Report Unsigned Senior Showcase - St. Louis, a new event to the fall showcase circuit, took place on Sunday, October 1st. The event, which was open to all unsigned 2018s in Illinois, Missouri and Kansas was held at CarShield Field, the home of the River City Rascals in O’Fallon, Missouri.

Today we start the analysis from the event with a quick look at some impressive performances from the day:

QUICK HITS

The physically imposing, 6-foot-8, 255-pound, RHP Jase Wallingford (Quincy Notre Dame, IL) was the star of the event, showing off an impressive three-pitch mix and a firm fastball. Wallingford filled up the strike zone with a heavy fastball that sat 86-88 mph and topped out at 89 mph. He complimented his fastball with a hard slider at 76-77 mph and a changeup at 79-80 mph. Wallingford remains one of the top uncommitted 2018s in Illinois and should be a coveted asset for any high-level program.

3B/OF Cole Hampton (Edwardsville, IL) was one of the top defenders at the event, showing off clean and easy actions. Hampton’s 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame projects and plays athletically, as he was 89 mph from the outfield and 87 mph across the infield.

OF Trevor Durand (Mt. Zion, IL) was the top arm among the position players, topping out at 90 mph from the outfield with accuracy. Durand, also hopped on the mound and sat 82-84 mph with his fastball.  At 6-foot-2, 162-pounds, Durand has room for physical development and should see his arm strength continue to improve.

1B/OF Tevin Lee (Du Quoin, IL) impressed at the plate with a powerful left-handed bat, making consistent hard pull contact. Lee possesses a thick frame that shows signs of physical maturity.

3B/RHP Will Heller (Blue Springs South, MO) followed up his performance at the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN with another good showing at the Unsigned Senior Showcase.  Heller ran a 7.16 60 and was 85 mph across the infield.  On the mound, the 5-foot-11 180-pound righty topped at 84 mph.

C AJ Spinello (Rockhurst, MO) posted another top pop time at a PBR event. Spinello posted a 2.00 pop time with a 72 mph positional velo, both among the top numbers for the event.

RHP Alex Foppe (St. Mary’s, MO) worked 84-86 mph with fastball, and showed a tight spinning slider at 72-74 mph.
