Here is a look at some scores and highlights from the district tournament games around the state on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

 

Farragut 10, Lenoir City 0
Jake Grooms, Drew Patterson, and Ryan Hagenow combined to throw a 1-hit shutout for the Admirals in their win on Saturday morning, striking out 6 while surrendering only 1 walk.  Grooms also went 2-2 with 2 walks at the plate.  Zach Yunger finished 2-3 with a walk, 2 runs, and an RBI, while Carson Wright and Justen Freeman each had 2 RBIs.  Jake Hagenow and Ashton King doubled.

Karns 10, Clinton 0
Jared Culp finished 2-3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, and 3 RBIs in Saturday morning's victory for Karns.  Alex Hames also went 2-3 with a run and an RBI and Brian Bell drove in 2 while scoring once.  Tyler Hartless went 1-3 with 2 runs and Nick Miles recorded 2 RBIs.  Trevor Adams deal the 5-inning shutout, tallying 8 strikeouts and allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk.

West (Knoxville) 6, Hardin Valley 5 (8 innings)
West pulled out a big win on Saturday morning over a tough Hardin Valley squad in extra-inning fashion.  Chase Marine went 2-4 with a double to help lead the Rebel offense, while Kaden Glick and Eli Cox each recorded 2 RBIs.  Roland Ryan walked 3 times, scored 3 runs, and also recorded the save on the mound.  Marine tossed the first 6.2 innings and allowed only 1 hit and 1 earned run while striking out 7.

McCallie 2, Father Ryan 1
The Blue Tornado pulled out a win in a pitcher's duel with Father Ryan on Saturday morning.  Corbin Brooksbank dealt all 7 innings for the victors, allowing only 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 10 and surrendering only 1 unearned run.  Hugh Hoagland pitched well for the Irish, but gave up a 2-run home run in the 4th inning to Ethan Bain, which accounted for the only 2 runs McCallie would need to get the victory.

Covington 8, Ripley 3
The middle of the Chargers' lineup powered them to victory on Saturday afternoon, as Ethan Whitley, Austin Baskin, Tyler Higgins, and Brennan McClain combined to go 7-10 with 2 walks, 3 HBPs, 6 runs, and 4 RBis.  Whitley homered and Ty Warmath added a double, a run, and 2 RBIs of his own.  Christian Delashmit earned the W on the mound, tossing all 7 innings and allowing 8 hits and 3 runs while striking out 9.

Brighton 6, Hardin County 1
The Cardinals got a strong performance on the mound from Brett Wilkins in their win over Hardin County on Saturday afternoon.  Wilkins tossed 6.1 innings, allowing only 1 run and striking out 6.  Dalton Rushing went 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs and Eli Davis finished 1-3 with a run and 2 RBIs of his own.  Will Dunlap drove one in and Matthew Smith went 2-3 with a run scored.

McNairy Central 3, Jackson South Side 2
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th, McNairy Central's Casey Coleson hit a 2-run walk-off home run to give the Bobcats a 3-2 victory over Jackson South Side.  Coleson finished 2-4 with a run scored and 2 RBIs and Dru Yopp added 2 hits of his own.  Parker Childers earned the W on the mound, tossing all 7 innings without allowing an earned run while striking out 5 and allowing 6 hits.

Evangelical Christian 4, St. George's 3
The Eagles scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to grab a 4-3 lead that they'd hold onto to defeat St. George's on Saturday afternoon, thanks to Keegan Westbrook's homer and Evan Crenshaw's squeeze to score Houston Harding.  Crenshaw finished with 2 RBIs, Harding scored twice, and Josh Rooker added a hit and an RBI of his own.  Billy Edwards earned the W on the mound by tossing 3 innings of hitless relief and Riley Watkins tallied the save.
