Wisconsin Power 25 Team Rankings Updated

By Steve Nielsen

This week the Wisconsin baseball landscape changed dramatically with a bunch of the top teams losing this week, and losing multiple times.

+ Holmen still remains undefeated on the year and has taken over the top spot in the Power 25, the only Division 1 team yet to lose. Holmen will match up with Aquinas and La Crosse Central this week, which should tell a lot about the Vikings.

+ Stevens Point had a flawless week and added two solid wins to their resume with a double header sweep of La Crosse Central. The Panthers move up to No. 2.

+ Hortonville and Denmark slide up right behind Stevens Point. The two squared off twice this week and split their series in close match-ups. Denmark is now the top ranked Division 2 team in the state and is tied with Lake Country Lutheran for the most wins in the state with 19.

+ After reclaiming the top spot last week, Sun Prairie lost twice in a tough week of baseball and dropped to No. 6. They dropped contests to Janesville Parker and Kenosha Bradford.

+ Janesville Parker makes one of the biggest jumps this week up to No. 5 as they sit atop the Big Eight conference and beat Sun Prairie this week.

+ Appleton North also lost again over the weekend dropping their record to 16-3 and losing three of their last five contests, twice last week. The Lightning fall to the No. 8 spot overall.

+ Kenosha Indian Trail has slowly moved up the rankings and a big upset win over Jefferson on Saturday improved their record to 16-2 along with a win over Bradford on Tuesday who later went on to beat Sun Prairie and Bay Port later in the week. Indian Trail moved up to No. 7

+ Eau Claire North had a rough schedule over the weekend and lost to Sun Prairie and Bay Port dropping them to No. 15.

+ Kenosha Bradford makes a huge jump to No. 9 knocking off both Sun Prairie and Bay Port on Saturday. They lost to Indian Trail earlier in the week but is set for a rematch with the Hawks again on Tuesday. The Red Devils in state record is 14-3 and now has two big signature wins on their resume.

+ Lake Country Lutheran continues to roll at 19-0, their strength of schedule holds them back in the Power 25. The only stumbling block along the way that LCL could face would be this week against Brookfield Academy who is 14-2 on the year.

+ Wisconsin Lutheran and Oconomowoc got into the Power 25 for the first time this year. WL is 16-4 and ranked No. 23 while Oconomowoc is just behind at 12-4 and ranked No. 24.
