Unsigned Senior Spotlight: C Jared Jennings

Jared JenningsJared Jennings had an outstanding sophomore season in 2012 hitting .375 with 35 RBI and five home runs. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound unsigned senior met and surpassed those results in 2013 for the Greenbrier West Cavaliers.

His offensive numbers for the past two seasons are strikingly similar in many categories. Jennings improved his batting average to .423 and drove in 40 runs as a junior. His 30 hits in 71 at bats were nearly identical to his sophomore campaign (27 hits, 72 at bats), but he improved his power numbers by a large margin. Jennings had 11 extra base hits as a sophomore (6 doubles, 5 home runs). Those numbers ballooned to 19 extra base hits as a junior (12 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs). Add in the fact that he struck out just seven times in 85 plate appearances and Jennings' performance at the plate becomes even more impressive.

Although a bit undersized, Jennings has shown steady improvement that should make him a coveted recruit heading into the spring of his senior year. He is currently ranked No. 39 in the WV Class of 2014.
