2017 Recruiting Trail: A Few Standouts from the Top Prospect Games

By Justin Burgess

The 2017 Recruiting Trail will focus in on a few of our Top Prospect Game participants that stood out last week. All three of these players showed good tools with projection that should easily allow them to play at the next level.

Jason Swan 2017, MIF Atlantic Coast HS

Swan is a lean and athletic player with good strength at 6 feet 170 pounds. He runs a 6.78, throws 85 mph across the infield, his exit velocity was 88 mph off the tee, and he drove the ball well to all fields in batting practice. He also is athletic enough to play the outfield at a high level and will only get stronger.

Bryce Hulett 2017, 1B/LHP Lake Wales HS

Hulett is a lean, athletic, and projectable player at 6-foot-2 165 pounds. He runs a 7.0, has soft hands at first, and has a smooth swing at the plate. On the mound his fastball is 83-85 mph with a loose, high ¾ arm slot. He shows a 79 mph changeup with the same arm speed as his fastball. Hulett also features a 70-71 mph curveball that has a ¾ break that shows signs of good depth. His velocity should increase with strength and maturity.

Cameron Meehan 2017, OF/IF Timber Creek HS

Meehan has a lean and athletic frame at 5-foot-10 160 pounds. He runs well (6.8-6.9) and has a solid arm from the outfield as we clocked him at 85 mph. Meehan’s exit velocity off the tee was 85 mph and he has a nice swing plane that produces consistent hard contact.
