PBR OK Preseason All-State: Quick Hits

Scott Hood
OK/MO/KS/ARK Assistant Scouting Director

PBR Oklahoma hosted the largest event in our history on February 12th at ORU that saw multiple players put up strong numbers and from all across the state.  Players went through a pro-style workout with BP rounds with Trackman and Blast Motion, bullpens with data captured by Trackman, a defensive workout with radar gun readings, and laser timed 60's to round out the day.  The Preseason All-State event allows players to show off their skills and tools right before the start of the season with scrimmages starting later this week.  Spring recruiting for schools at the next level is very targeted in who they are wanting to see and we saw a large amount of prospects that put up noteworthy performances.  There are multiple well-known faces that had strong days at the event as well as a few others that have made very strong jumps from where we've seen them in the past.  Be on the lookout throughout the week as we release leaderboards from the event and we get deeper into the data collected.

POSITION PLAYERS

Carson Brumbaugh SS / 2B / Santa Fe, OK / 2025

Brumbaugh showed why he is one of the top middle infielders in the Country on Sunday after an impressive showing in the infield with smooth actions and ability to make all the plays up the middle.  With the bat he continues to show an impressive amount of hand strength with exit velocities up to 100.4 mph leading the event.  To top it off he ran a 6.96 showing moderate improvement in his running times from where we've seen him in the past.

Luke Beeler C / 1B / Holland Hall, OK / 2025

Beeler has always shown the ability to hit balls hard and continued that at the Preseason All-State.  With one of the more physical builds in the 2025 class, Beeler has an easy/powerful swing but what really caught our attention was his improved throwing from behind the plate.  Beeler popped a 1.98 with 75 mph reading from behind the plate and throws showed improved carry and a quicker release than where we've seen him in the past.

Devin Mitchell OF / 1B / Edmond Santa Fe, OK / 2023

The Tarleton State commit showed why he is one of the more physical players in the state after another strong showing at the Preseason All-State.  Mitchell led the way at the event with a 91 mph reading from the outfield and boasted exit velocities up to 97 mph and strong bat speed metrics.  Mitchell's swing has continued to show more barrel control and with his natural strength has a chance to have a very strong spring.

Dax McCaskill 3B / 1B / Washington, OK / 2024

We got eyes on McCaskill two weeks ago at the OKC Preseason ID where he impressed and he backed that performance up with another strong one at the Preseason All-State.  At 6-foot-1 and 190-pounds, McCaskill has the rare tools of power and athleticism that showed up in a big way on Sunday with exit velocities up to 96.4 and loud bat speed metrics reading up to 78.3 mph.  Where he showed his most impressive tool was in the 60 where he ran an event best 6.63.

Jase Winchester SS / 2B / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2026

Winchester checks in as an exciting 2026 to keep an eye on in the future after a strong performance at the Preseason All-State.  Winchester showed strong actions defensively with arm strength reading up to 82 mph and showed some hand strength with the bat with exit velocities up to 90.1 mph.  Jase has a very skilled game and with added strength in the future it is easy to see him making consistent gains.

Asher Fowler OF / 1B / Tulsa Union, OK / 2026

The 2026 outfielder showed a strong game at this past summer's Junior Future Games and followed that up with a strong performance at the Preseason All-State.  Fowler has a smooth stroke from the left side and a surprising amount of pop from his currently lean frame.  Fowler generated exit velos up to 87.8 mph and should easily see that number increase as he continues to add strength.

Marlon Moore 2B / SS / Washington, OK / 2024

The Tulane commit has always been considered one of the top defenders in the State and proved that yet again at the Preseason All-State.  Moore understands routes to the ball and smooth glove action.  Where he really caught our attention was with the bat where Moore generated consistent hard contact with exit velocities jumping up to 92.8 mph.  As Moore continues to add more tools on the offensive side of the ball, look for him to have a potential breakout year in 2023.

Rhett Winchester OF / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2025

Winchester checks out as one of the top athletes in the 2025 class and showed that in a big way at the Preseason All-State.  The outfielder had an impressive round of BP with exit velocities working up to 96.1 mph with strong bat speed metrics.  He showed his athleticism with a 6.78 60 which allows him to cover a ton of ground in the outfield and showed enough arm strength (83 mph) that should play up as a potential centerfielder at the next level.

Reid Jones 1B / 1B / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2024

At a physically imposing 6-foot-4 and 270-pounds, Jones has some of the top hand strength in the class and showed that in a big way at the Preseason All-State.  Jones generated exit velocities up to 96.4 mph with quick hands through the zone and strong overall bat speed.

Gamaliel Jones OF / OF / Union , OK / 2024

Jones is an outfielder to keep an eye on in the future having one of the more athletic swings from the left side of the plate.  Jones has a controlled stroke that shoots balls up to the middle of the diamond at ease and also showed his athleticism running a 6.81 60.

Cooper Bates 3B / RHP / Broken Arrow , OK / 2024

Bates showed his positional versatility at the Preseason All-State with strong showings both in the infield and in the outfield.  Bates generated exit velocities up to 90.9 mph and shows some current strength in his lower half.  To top off his strong day Bates finished it off with a 7.01 60 giving him the ability to play all over the field.

Vaughan McIntyre C / OF / Edmond Santa Fe, OK / 2025

McIntyre continues to make steady gains to his game and had a strong performance from behind the plate at the Preseason All-State.  McIntyre had pop times as low as 1.93 with throws showing strong carry to the bag.  Vaughan shows quick hands at the plate from the left side and the type of path that should translate to handle high-end pitching.

Bryce Tapley OF / SS / Bethel, OK / 2025

Tapley shows the rare combination of speed and power and has shown a lot of growth in the frame since the last time we've seen him now standing at 6-foot-1 and 170-pounds.  Tapley has great arm strength that showed up in both the infield (86 mph) and the outfield (90 mph).  Tapley uses his quick twitch swing to generate exit velocities up to 93.2 mph and should be one for schools at the next level to keep an eye on.

Aidan Allred RHP / 3B / Deer Creek, OK / 2025

Allred showed off his physical game at the plate at the Preseason All-State generating exit velocities up to 94.8 mph.  With his physical 6-foot-4 and 205-pound frame, Allred has a chance to be one of the top power bats in the class as he continues to add strength and will be one to keep an eye on in the future.

Jackson Turney 1B / LHP / Sand Springs, OK / 2026

The left-handed hitting first baseman continues to show why he has some of the most power potential in the 2026 class with another strong showing at the Preseason All-State.  Turney can move the barrel quickly through the zone with strong balance that generates exit velocities up to 93.6 mph and a strong 87.1 mph average.

Ashton Bennight OF / LHP / Tuttle, OK / 2023

The Cowley County commit used his quick twitch swing from the left side to generate exit velocities up to 92.3 mph with strong bat speed.  He ran a 7.02 60 and worked the ball up to 83 mph from the outfield.  Bennight has sneaky power from his leaner frame and should continue to be one to keep an eye on as he continues to add strength.

Owen Coil 2B / 3B / Stillwater, OK / 2024

The ORU commit showed off his tools again at the Preseason All-State with his athletic left-handed stroke generating exit velocities up to 95.9 mph with the ball jumping off the barrel.  He flashed some arm strength in the infield working it up to 85 mph from across the diamond and showed the athleticism running a 6.73 60.  Coil is known for his high baseball IQ and showed the tools it takes to compete at the next level.

The 6-foot-3 and 170-pound left-hander caught our attention at the Preseason All-State with an impressive bullpen that saw fastballs up to 86.8 with strong sinking action and arm side run.  He was able to work the ball the other way with a short cutting slider at 75.5 mph and killed the spin on a fading changeup.  He showed that arm strength in the outfield as well registering at 86 mph and showing exit velocities up to 87.8 mph.

Many guys bested their numbers from previous events but none more than Tycen Armour.  On the mound Armour showed a potential electric fastball at 85.1 mph with spin rates as high as 2725.  He showed a very tight sweeping slider in the low 70's with spin rates averaging 2668 and a firm high 70's changeup that he can land for strikes.  In the outfield he showed off the arm strength registering 88 mph and also running a 6.95 60.  With this big jump in tools we expect to be hearing a lot about Armour in the future.

Tyler Davis RHP / OF / Owasso, OK / 2024

The OU commit is coming of his complete game performance in the 6A State Championship game and showed some of the skills that have led him to being one of the top players in the class.  Although the fastball velocity was a little lower than what we've seen from him in the past he still showed his pitchability as well as elite slider in the upper 70's with 2688 spin average.  On the position player side he registered 85 mph from the outfield and had exit velocities up to 89.1 mph with the bat.

PITCHERS

Entrekin uses his unique slot from the left side to work fastballs up to 84 mph and paired it with a heavy sweeping slider in the mid 60's.  With his slot and size, Noah has a chance to give hitters very tough looks and should be primed for big jumps in the future as he adds strength.

Conner Johnson RHP / OF / Salina, OK / 2024

Although the fastball velocity wasn't as high as we've seen in the past, Johnson showed the type of pitchability that solidifies his spot as one of the top arms in the class.  Johnson has a smooth operation on the mound with a clean arm action and ball jumping out of the hand at ease.  With basketball season wrapping up shortly and Johnson getting back to concentrating on baseball full-time, we expect him to see even bigger jumps in the coming months.

Eli Buxton RHP / 1B / Charles Page, OK / 2024

Buxton used his lean 6-foot-6 and 185-pound frame to pump fastballs up to 87.1 mph with strong tilt and life through the zone.  He used his over the top slot to drop in curveballs in the mid 70's with some late depth to the bottom of the zone.  With one of the more projectable builds in the class, Buxton continues to make big strides and has plenty left in the tank for the future.

Noah Humphreys RHP / OF / Edmond Memorial , OK / 2024

Humphreys worked the fastball up to 84.2 mph with 20 inches of induced vertical break and paired it with a tight low 70's curveball with short and late break.  Humphreys stands at an athletic 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds and should continue to see jumps in velocity as he continues to add strength in the future.

Woods showed quick hand speed on the bump that worked fastballs up to 83 mph with strong spin.  He also flashed a tight low 70's slider with very tight spin (2423 average).  With his athletic build and arm swing, Woods has a chance to make big jumps on the mound in the future as he continues to add strength.
