Prep Baseball Report

The end of July means that the country is getting ready to turn its attention to LakePoint in Emerson, GA for the country's biggest underclass event, the PBR Future Games.  Featuring 400+ uncommitted players from across the country, representing their state or region, with every workout and game played at one 4 field diamond at LakePoint.

Team Carolina will again represent both North Carolina and South Carolina at the 2023 event.  Today we are unveiling the roster for Team Carolina with a brief breakdown of the roster make-up, plus a look at the path Team Carolina will take in Georgia.

Last year Team Carolina went 3-0 while also creating a ton of buzz off of the workout day.  With another big turnout of 400+ college coaches and scouts anticipated for 2023, Team Carolina is set and ready to be the talk of the event again.

5-foot-10, 165-pound frame. The left hand hitter has impressed in various looks in front of PBR Scouts. He showed off his left hand swing at the Preseason All State event in Greenville, NC then again at the Team Carolina Trials East event at Campbell. Bender makes consistent hard contact and left the yard on multiple swings at Campbell. Top exit velocity at 98.4 mph with an average EV of 88.4 mph. There is bat speed through the zone with some lift to the swing path. His arm has been up to 88 mph from the outfield.

Andrew Palmer OF / 1B / Oceanside Collegiate, SC / 2025

Returning for his second Future Games and looking to add to his continued success.  Last year showing the power with the bat not only in BP but also in game play, driving Team Carolinas only homer of the event.  Palmer has had a big high school season helping his team to another state championship and has continued to drive the ball all summer.  Big power bat but also shows good athleticism by running a 6.7 60 at the beginning of the summer at a scout day.

Ian Williams CF / 1B / Wake Forest , NC / 2025

5-foot-10, 140-pound frame. Williams helped lead Wake Forest to a 4A East Region Title and runner up finish in the State Finals. He had a going showing at the Preseason All State Central event at Diamond Extreme and stood out once again at the NC/SC Border Battle earlier this summer. He has shown the ability to track down balls with ease while playing center field and has also posted a 6.69 60-time on the lasers. He hits from the left side with feel for the barrel and the ability to use the whole field. The body has looseness and his game and numbers should continue to tick up as he adds strength.

Justin Sheffield OF / 3B / Conway, SC / 2025

Young man continues to improve every tine we see him.  Each time out runs a better 60, shows a better OF arm velo, along with better exit velos with the bat.  Showing off a short quick swing and the ability to drive the ball around the field.  Exciting player to watch with the bat and in the outfield, looking forward to more growth as player.
