Team: Mountain Vista
Preseason Rank: 7
2014 Record: 20-5
Conference: Continental
CHSAA Class: 5A
Head Coach: Ron Quintana
Playoff Run: Lost to Regis 5-1 in 5A Final Four
2014 Final Rank: 5
Returning Starters: 5
Returning Pitchers: 3

TOP PLAYERS:
Marc Mumper, SS/P, No. 6 2015, Grand Canyon Commit
Will Dixon, P/1B, No. 29 2015, Colorado Mesa Commit
Brandon Formby, INF/P, 2015
Brady Subart, C, No. 83 2015

X-FACTOR:
Seeing who steps up in positions lost from graduated seniors off a 20-5 season in 2014

NEW PLAYERS TO WATCH:
No. 19 2017 MIF/RHP Cole Blatchford and No. 46 2017 OF John Krysa. Blatchford got a call up last year as a freshman on a 20-5 team that made the Final Four. Blatchford has a nice swing with some pop registering an 84 mph exit velo off a tee at the Underclass Invite. He should  help in the infield this year. Krysa will bring some speed to the team in 2015. Krysa had a 4.19 home to first time, fastest at the Underclass Invite.

KEY PLAYERS LOST:
Nick Leonard: Washington State

STAT RAT:
Out of 154 total innings pitched in 2014, 80 of them came from Nick Leonard.

BOTTOM LINE:

The Golden Eagles were one inning away from making an appearance to the 5A State Championship game in 2014. Though they graduated some seniors that had a huge impact on their 2014 success, they also return a strong core of seniors this year who had the same type of impact last year. Starting with No. 6 2015 and Grand Canyon Commit SS/RHP Marc Mumper. Marc has been solid leader and player for the Golden Eagles the last three years as a starter. He will make the move to SS this year, but the do it all Mumper should have no problem with the transition. Mumper brings an upper 80's arm across the diamond and on the mound, and Mumper is one of the fastest players at the 5A level running a sub 6.8 60. No. 29 2015 and Colorado Mesa Commit Will Dixon returns. In 2014 Dixon was overshadowed by the dominated performance 2014 RHP Washington State commit Nick Leonard had, but Dixon had his own dominating performance. Dixon was 6-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 40 innings pitched in 2014. He will start at 1B when he doesn't pitch. INF/OF Brandon Formby is somewhat underrated and will add some offensive  and defensive depth. No. 83 2015 C Brady Subart is solid behind the plate, and does a great job controlling a pitching staff. In 2014 Subart hit .389 with 8 doubles. The Golden Eagles have division 1 talent coming back, and will be in the mix trying to win a tough Continental League Championship, the expect them to have a very good chance to return to 5A Final 8 again in 2015.
