Fox Lane 5 - Mamaroneck 4

Trailing by one run entering the final inning, Joe Passarelli and Joe Fraioli each homered to give Fox Lane a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over Mamaroneck on Monday. After Passarelli hit a 3-2 fastball out to tie the score at 4-4 and knock Mamaroneck starter Kumar Nambiar out of the game, Fraioli homered two batters later on a first-pitch fastball from reliever Jason Kreinces to end it.

The Tigers struck first, scoring two runs in the second on an RBI double from Andrew Sommer and a well-placed squeeze bunt from Anthony Pecora. Peter Matt added a two-out RBI triple in the third to make it 3-0, but the Foxes (10-5) responded in the bottom half of the inning. Fraioli hit a two-out RBI single and Andrew Workman tied it with a two-run homer to tie it at 3-3. Mamaroneck (12-4) retook the lead after Pecora tripled and scored on Miles Haughton’s sac fly in the top of the sixth, but Passarelli and Fraioli would have the final word.

Nambiar battled, but didn’t display his usual pinpoint control. The Yale-bound senior left-hander allowed four runs on seven hits, four walks and one hit batsman with four strikeouts over 6.1 innings pitched and 110 pitches (61 strikes). Fox Lane junior right-hander Aaron Winkler all three runs (one earned) on five hits, no walks and one hit batsman with six strikeouts on 80 pitches (47 strikes).

The Foxes have won nine of 10 after starting 1-4, while the Tigers have now lost three of their last four.
