As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

TOP PLAYERS

Nate Hoya, C/RHP, 2014 ... Three year starter and ace of the staff.
Christian Magill, SS/RHP, 2016 ... Played a lot as a freshman, should be the number two on the staff. Good athlete with potential.
Aaron Sostaric, 1B/LHP, 2016 ... Played a lot as a freshman, good left-handed bat. Should be the three or four on the mound.
Garrett Bean, MIF, 2014 ... Returning starter.
Rust Yeast, OF, 2017 ... Likely the best athlete on the team. Will be starting centerfielder while hitting leadoff. One to watch.

OUTLOOK:  

After a solid 2012 season, coach Mellott and the Tiffin Columbian Tornadoes took a step back in 2013. However, this is a preview for the 2014 season and all looks bright for TC. The Tornadoes have Nate Hoya, a three-year starter as the ace of the staff with two sophomores, Christian Magill (RHP) and Aaron Sostaric (LHP) as the two and three. Freshman outfielder Russ Yeast is one to watch according to coach Mellot. "(Russ) His skills and intangibles are the best I have had in my 14 plus years at Tiffin," stated Mellot. Columbian will be tested in the NOL with the likes of Norwalk and Bellevue among others.
