With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Middletown Middies

Team Name: Middletown Middies
Head Coach: Wes Mercer
Division: I
2015 Record: 4-21
Conference Record: Greater Miami Conference, 2-16
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 8/4

2016 Team Strengths:

• Starting pitching
• Returning starters

2016 Team Weaknesses:

• Approach at the plate
• Leadership
• Experience at the bottom of the roster
• Not a lot of summer ball players in the program

Coach Outlook: New coach, new culture, new expectations.  Strong nucleus back and if we get good leadership and players to buy into the vision and get everyone moving toward the same goals, we could surprise some people.

• Caleb Caudill, JR, RHP/SS, two year letterman
• Conner Patterson, SR, RHP/SS/3B, three year letterman
• Andrew Sanders, SR, RHP/C/3B, one year letterman, Mount St. Joseph commit

• Tristan Back, SO, OF/IF, one year letterman
• Chris Conley, SR, RHP/OF/IF/C, two year letterman

Top Underclassmen:

• Tristan Back, OF/IF, 5'9" 160, R/R, hit well at the top of the lineup as a freshman on varsity last year, sees pitches and hits the ball hard for his size
