With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Olentangy Liberty Patriots

Team Name: Olentangy Liberty Patriots
Head Coach: Ty Brenning
Division: I
2015 Record: 27-5
Conference Record: OCC, 11-3
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 3/2

2016 Team Strengths:

• Athletic
• Competitive
• Fundamental
• Speed
• Defense

2016 Team Weaknesses:

• Depth and experience will need to grow throughout the season, both in areas of pitching and offense

Coach Outlook: Liberty will be very athletic, and return leaders in key positions in 2016. Senior, Mason Groves (Winthrop commit), will be a true #1 with the ability to be a strikeout pitcher. Senior, Spence Yankle (Oakland commit), will hit in the middle of the lineup and provide outstanding leadership behind the plate. Senior, Jordan Seich, will be an experienced and athletic two-way guy who will lead in the outfield, on the mound, and at the plate. The patriots will need to establish depth in pitching and in the field to replace several starters from 2014 and 2015 Elite 8 appearances. Preseason competition at most positions should help Liberty prepare for the challenge of a strong schedule in 2016.
