2016 Spring Team Preview: Olmsted Falls Bulldogs

With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Olmsted Falls Bulldogs

Team Name: Olmsted Falls Bulldogs
Head Coach: Dan Largent
Division: I
2015 Record: 15-15
Conference Record: SWC, 7-5
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/6

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Leadership
  • Pitching
  • Team speed

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Offense
  • Fielding
  • Need to find successors for two All-Ohio players (Ryan Hanna and Anthony Savarino)

Coach Outlook: After going 15-15 in 2015, and losing 4-3 to St. Eds in the District Semi-Final, the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs are looking to take the next step in their quest to return to the top of the SWC and make a run in the State Tournament.

Top Returning Players:

  • Collin Romel, 2017, 6'1" 200, LHP/1B, captain, Kent State commit, one of the top LHP in the state, first team All-SWC, had offers from multiple D1 programs, best defensive 1B I have ever coached, hits for power and average, could play both 1B and pitch at the D1 level, 3-3 record, 1.10 ERA, 56 K, .324 BA, 3 HR, 23 RBI, .982 Fielding %
  • Matt Archual, 5'8” 160, OF, undecided, captain, returning starter in CF, 1.00 Fielding %, 44 PO, .273 BA, 2 2B, 8 RBI, 12 SB, great leader, very fast, batted over .360 in the SWC
  • Charlie Broski, 6'2” 180, RHP/IF, 2-1 record, 2 saves, 2.57 ERA as a junior, played 3B in a back-up capacity, will be relied on heavily as a starting pitcher in 2016, will look to establish himself as one of the top pitchers in the SWC

Top Underclassmen:

  • Logan Bratsch, 2018, RHP, great build, will figure into the varsity pitching rotation after spending his freshman season on JV
  • Nate Causey, 2018, LHP/1B, big body, tall, still growing, will figure into the varsity pitching rotation after spending his freshman season on JV
  • Sullivan Kilbane, 2018, 3B/RHP, will compete for varsity playing time this year after a very strong 2015 JV season as a freshman
