Inside the Recruitment: '15 SS Damian Maglione commits to Lake Erie

PBR: Why did you choose Lake Erie?

Maglione: I felt like coach McGee and his staff truly care about me! It felt like family and I know Lake Erie is on the rise and I wanted to be a part of it!

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Maglione: Buffalo, Ohio, Malone , Walsh and Ohio Dominican  other schools have had interest but I had the most contact from these schools.

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?

Maglione: Coach McGee first saw my video that my dad sent out and then at a PBR winter showcase  then he invited me to Jr day at Lake Erie  and we have been in contact ever since ! Coach McGee and his staff were at PBR Top Prospects and the Walsh showcase for the Cure and many of my games. He invited me on an official visit and made me an offer then.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Maglione: Coach McGee expects me to compete for a starting position my freshman year! 

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Storm baseball?

Maglione: Coach McGee wants me to play great defense I also feel I can contribute right away at the plate with continued hard work! 

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Maglione:  I play for the Ohio Yankees and I have many great memories winning tournaments getting to play in front of my future Lake Erie coaches and playing in Barberton on very soggy fields when my friend Dalton got thrown out at a muddy second base. Lol

PBR: What were your stats for last spring season?

Maglione:  .435 batting average 520 OB% this summer

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Maglione: I have faced a lot of great pitchers but it has to be my boy Mizzou commit Ty Schoaf
