Connor Peters, C, Upper Arlington HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Walsh?

Peters: I was also considering Slippery Rock and Transylvania

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Peters: I chose play at Walsh University because of the atmosphere. The campus felt like a second home to me when I visited. I met all of the guidance counselors, priests, and even the President of the University.

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Peters: An assistant coach from Walsh first saw me at a tournament in Akron during the summer season of 2014. From there I constructed a video of my performances and sent it to Walsh. About a month later, the head coach of Walsh, Tim Mead, invited me up for a visit. Coach Mead invited me into his office, and we talked for a good hour and a half. Surprisingly to me, the conversation was more about life lessons and choices in college than what playing for the baseball team would be like, which is what really convinced me to join the Cavalier family. From there, my relationship with Coach Mead has gotten stronger by the day; it's as if he is a second father to me.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?

Peters: Individually, I'm just trying to get better at my skills each day and keep a positive attitude throughout all of the stressful situations that baseball can put you through. For the team, I'm hoping for an OCC title and a significant run in the OHSAA playoffs

PBR: Was the recruiting process everything that you expected?

Peters: The recruiting process was everything that I expected and more. The process of camps, getting my name into the minds of coaches, and the PBR staff all conjunctively helped. After four years of the process, I can look back on it now and realize just how much I went through.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?

Peters: This summer I will be playing Coach Chris Hansen and the Gem City Throwbacks. My most memorable moment from a summer season is being able to play at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina during my U12 season. Being able to meet Cal Ripken Jr. is definitely a highlight of my journey.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring?

Peters: Last spring I sported a respectable .339 batting average with a total of 16 thrown-out baserunners during the school season.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Peters: The toughest pitcher that I have faced so far is probably Joey Murray of Dublin Coffman. I was able to catch him at a PBR showcase at Wright State, and he is an exceptional college-level pitcher. His fastball is flirting with 90 mph and his tight 12-6 curve is sure to catch anyone off guard. Plus he has a high 70's slider that can scare even the most experienced player. Needless to say, he is a good friend of mine.
