Top RHP Prospect

Cameron Junker, RHP, Moeller HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 180-pound prospect with tall, lanky frame. Carries himself well. Projects as one of the top arms in Ohio's class of 2016. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with long arm action. Shows quickness in his arm. Good direction to his delivery and throws downhill. Fastball sat at 82-83 mph with some sink to it. Breaking ball showed tight spin and late 11/5 action, but needs to continue developing command. Changeup was thrown at 76-77 mph with some sink to it. 

Top LHP Prospect

Andrew Juelg, LHP/OF, Moeller HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 160-pound prospect that projects as a Division I pitcher at the next level. Shows long, easy arm action through a high 3/4 arm slot. Has some quickness to his arm speed. Smooth rhythm to his delivery. Fastball sat 80-82 mph with some sink to the arm side. Breaking ball has good two-plane, 12/6 type action. Also throws a changeup near fastball arm speed at 73-75 mph. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 82 mph with some carry. Good feet and plays through the ball. At the plate, he swings from both sides. Seems more natural from the right side with more compact load and shorter swing. Showed line drive production. From the left side, he tends to bar, which creates some length to the swing. 

Top Position Prospect

Landon Stephens, IF, Hamilton HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect with solid, athletic frame. In the field, he may project best as a third baseman. Uses hsort arm action through high 3/4 arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 75 mph across the infield with some quickness to his exchange and feet. At the plate, he starts in a balanced, athletic stance. Uses a short, compact load. Creates good momentum towards the baseball while maintaining balance in his swing. Engages his lower half with a toe tap. Obvious quickness in his hands (85 mph exit velocity) with slight uphill path. Ball jumped off his bat with pull power in his swing.

Alec Uhlhorn, C/OF, Elder HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 161-pound prospect. From the crouch, he uses short arm action through high 3/4 arm slot to reach a top velocity of 65 mph with pop times between 2.25 to 2.44. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 70 mph. Needs to continue developing proper footwork and mechanics to enhance his comfortability. His best tool at present is his bat. Starts in an athletic stance with short stride. Uses a short path while creating solid line drive contact.

Andrew O'Brien, IF/RHP, Moeller HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 158-pound prospect. Projects as a second base type. Uses short arm action with top velocity of 68 mph. At the plate, he swings from both sides. Shows more strength from the right side. Uses a short stride. Tends to wrap a bit in his load. Line drive type production. Reached a top exit velocity of 79 mph. Shows some feel from the left-side with a slight uphill path. Seems to be still developing feel. Reached a top exit velocity of 76 mph. On the mound, he uses a slow rhythm. Fastball sat 67-70 mph through a high 3/4 arm slot. Breaking ball shows slurvy action at 53-57 mph while changeup is 54-56 mph.

Andrew Weigel, OF/1B, Lakota West HS, 2016
6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect. In the field, he uses long arm action while reaching a top velocity of 74 mph. Will continue to improve as he plays on the toes of his feet and through the baseball. His best tool is his bat. Starts in an athletic stance. Uses aggressive lower half with long stride. Uses a short, compact load. Hands work on a level plane through the zone. Created solid line drive contact. Still a tad raw, but shows potential with his bat.

Austin Hatfield, 1B/RHP, Lakota East HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 208-pound prospect with solid, athletic frame. Potential two-way prospect at this stage. At the plate, he starts in a tall, athletic stance. Uses a small stride. Tendency to bar in his load, which creates some stiffness. Overcomes this with quick hands (87 mph exit velocity). Creates solid contact with pull power in his swing. Should only get better as a hitter as he makes some small fixes. In the field, he shows athleticism in his feet. Reached a top velocity of 75 mph with long arm action. On the mound, he uses a quick tempo. Throws through a 3/4 to high 3/4 arm slot with a fastball that sat in the high 70's and reached up to 83 mph. On the mound, he uses a 66-68 mph breaking ball with 11/5 action. Also uses a hard slider with late breaking action at 69-71 mph. Changeup is thrown for strikes at 72-74 mph with arm side run. 

Bailey Mosley, 2B, Fairfield HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 145-pound infield prospect. Uses short arm action with some quickness. Reached a top velocity of 76 mph. His feet show some athleticism. With continued growth, has potential to play on the left side. At the plate, he displays an aggressive lower half. Uses a long stride. Needs to continue improve balance as he has some extra head movement in his swing. Takes uphill path while showing some quickness in his hands (80 mph exit velocity).

Ben Speer, RHP/SS, Mason HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 170-pound prospect with lanky, athletic frame. While still a bit raw, he has the potential to be a Division I arm at this stage. Fastball sat between 80-83 mph with straight action. Needs to continue cleaning up direction in his delivery as it will only help improve in this area. Has tendency to get outside of his body in the windup. Breaking ball shows late 11/5 action with good depth at 60-64 mph. His changeup is still developing at 60-62 mph. In the field, he projects best as a third baseman. Reached a top velocity of 77 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts in a slight crouch. Uses a toe tap to engage his lower half. Hands tend to drop and raise in his load. Takes level path to the ball. 

Brian Corbett, 3B/1B, Miamisburg HS, 2016
6-foot-2, 220-pound corner infield prospect with a big frame. In the field, he uses short arm action through a high 3/4 arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 71 mph. Will improve as footwork creates angles and creates momentum. At the plate, he starts with high hands. Tendency to bar in his load. Shows quickness in his hands with a top exit velocity of 84 mph off the tee. Pull tendencies in his swing.

Bryson Lonsbury, OF/RHP, Kings HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 160-pound prospect with athletic frame. In the field, he shows fluid footwork and plays through the ball. Reached a top velocity of 79 mph with long arm action. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Uses a short stride. Overall, short, compact swing with slight uphill path. Shows some quickness (80 mph exit velocity). On the mound, he uses slow, deliberate delivery. Fastball sat 76-78 mph with occasional arm side run. Breaking ball shows spin at 65-66 mph while changeup may be his best pitch at 70-71 mph with good fade down in the zone.

Byron Famble, OF/3B, Finneytown HS, 2016
5-foot-6, 150-pound prospect with small, athletic frame. From the outfield, he uses short arm action through a 3/4 arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 69 mph. Will improve as he plays through the baseball and creates momentum. At the plate, the right-handed hitter doesn't use a stride. Tendency to bar in his load. Takes slight uphill path to the ball with average bat speed.

Chase Carpenter, SS/3B, Walnut Hills, HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 172-pound prospect with athletic frame. Uses long arm action through 3/4 arm slot in the field. Reached a top velocity of 72 mph across the infield.  Will improve as he closes up his front side. Tends to field with a wide and flat feet. At the plate, the right-handed hitter drops his hands in his load creating an uphill path. Shows partial use of his lower half as he doesn't clear his front side. Registered a top exit velocity of 82 mph. 

Chris Dombroski, OF/3B, Loveland HS, 2016 
6-foot, 180-pound prospect with athletic frame. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 78 mph with long arm action. Corner outfield type. In the infield, he reached a top velocity of 76 mph from a 3/4 arm slot. Tends to windup. Showed some softness in his hands and ability to move laterally. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts in a balanced stance. Uses a short stride and partial use of his lower half. Hands tend to drift away from his body in his load. Upper body type hitter with quickness in his hands (83 mph exit velocity).

Clayton Frank, C/1B, La Salle HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 150-pound prospect with skinny frame. Reached a top velocity of 68 mph from the crouch. Pop times ranged between 2.28 to 2.51. Will improve as transfer shortens up and footwork improve. At the plate, he starts in an open stance. Uses a short stride with small upper half load. Inside/out production in his swing. Top exit velocity of 74 mph off the tee.

Cory Snider, 3B/RHP, Lynchburg-Clay HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 158-pound frame. Uses short arm action through a high 3/4 arm slot.  Reached a top velocity of 69 mph. Will improve as he creates angles and momentum through his throws. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts in an open stance. Uses a short stride and simple load. Takes slight uphill path to the ball with line drive production. Top exit velocity of 78 mph off the tee. 

Dylan Smith, RHP/OF, Anderson HS, 2016
6-foot, 170-pound prospect with thin, athletic frame. Projects as a pitcher at the next level. Uses a quick tempo on the mound. Efficient use of his body with good hip lead in his delivery. Throws through 3/4 arm slot with short arm action and some quickness in his arm. Fastball sat 81-83 mph with some late life. Breaking ball shows good 11/5 action across the zone at 67-69 mph. Shows the pitch a bit, but will serve as effective out pitch. Changeup is still developing at 70 mph. Tendency to be up in the zone. In the field, he shows athleticism and feel for the position. Reached a top velocity of 85 mph. At the plate, he starts with an open stance. Uses a short stride. Will improve as he closes up his lower half. Takes slight uphill path to the ball. 

Gavin Brusca, RHP/1B, Miamisburg HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 180-pound prospect with solid frame. Throws from a low 3/4 arm slot which creates run to his 70-73 mph fastball. Breaking ball shows 10/4 action with gradual action at 60-62 mph. Tendency to slow down his arm. Changeup sat at 62-63 mph while cutter had some bite at 61-63 mph.

Jackson Tedder, LHP, Beavercreek HS, 2016
6-foot, 170-pound prospect with lean, athletic frame. Projectable arm that figures to add velocity as he matures. Throws through 3/4 arm slot with long arm action. Shows quickness in his arm. Delivery is smooth, but tendency to sit a bit on his back leg. Fastball shows cutting action at 77-79 mph.  Breaking ball has tight 10/4 action at 65-67 mph. Located the pitch well in the zone. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed with some fade at 67-69 mph. 

Jacob Clausing, RHP/OF, Carlisle HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 180-pound prospect with strong lower half. In the field, he uses a crow hop as he reaches a top velocity of 77 mph. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Tends to bar in his load. Takes slight uphill path to the ball. Registered top exit velocity of 74 mph. On the mound, he throws from high 3/4 arm slot with long, stiff arm action. His fastball sat in the mid 70's and bumped up to 78 mph. Breaking ball shows cutting type action at 69-70 mph while knuckle had some tumble at 69-70 mph. 

Jake Dupler, C/OF, Kettering Fairmont HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 205-pound prospect with thick frame and strong lower half. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph with short arm action. Displayed accurate throws with pop times between 2.21 to 2.32. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Uses a short stride with uphill path to the ball. Created solid line drive production with quickness in his hands (83 mph exit velocity).  

Jaycob Banks, RHP/OF, Northridge HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 150-pound prospect with average, athletic frame. Uses short arm action through high 3/4 arm slot while reaching a top velocity of 76 mph. Will continue to improve as he creates momentum through the baseball. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance. Uses a short stride. Takes level path with line drive production. Top exit velocity of 74 mph. On the mound, he uses a slight inward turn. More to come with improved use of lower half. Fastball sat in the mid 70's and bumped up to 78 mph. Breaking ball sat at 64-65 mph while his change may be his best pitch at 63-64 mph with some arm side run. 

Jordan Funk, 1B/OF, Glen Este HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 170-pound left-handed hitting and throwing prospect. Moves well off the bag. Reached a top velocity of 68 mph on his throws. At the plate, he uses a short stride. Takes a long, uphill path to the ball. Registered a top exit velocity of 69 mph off the tee.

KC Lindon, MIF/RHP, Madison HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect with average, athletic frame. Shows some athleticism in his feet in the field. Throws with long arm action while reaching a top velocity of 76 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts in a slightly open stance. Uses a short stride. Hands work well through the zone with line drive production. Overall fluid rhythm to his swing. On the mound, he throws form a high 3/4 arm to over the top slot. Tendency to throw across his body. Fastball sat at 79-81 mph with some sink to the arm side. Breaking ball was a bit erratic at 63 mph while changeup showed at 63-66 mph.

Kent Reeser, OF/LHP, Miamisburg HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 155-pound prospect with lanky frame. Uses long arm action through 3/4 arm slot while reaching a top velocity of 73 mph. Left-handed hitter starts with high hands and a minimal upper half load. Doesn't use much of a stride to engage his lower half. Creates line drive production with slight uphill path to the ball. Top exit velocity of 77 mph. On the mound, he throws through a 3/4 arm slot. Fastball was thrown for strikes at 68-69 mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball showed gradual break at 57-60 mph while cutter sat at 55-56 mph. Changeup shows occasional fade at 55-56 mph. Overall good command of his pitches.

Kyle Butz, 2B/OF, Moeller HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 160-pound prospect with athletic frame. Middle infield type. Feet work well in the field. Shows fluidity and creates momentum towards first base. Uses short arm action through a 3/4 slot with a top velocity of 73 moh across the infield. Will improve accuracy as he consistently closes up his front side. At the plate, he starts in an athletic stance. Upper body type hitter. Tendency to bar in his load. Hands show quickness with 83 mph exit velocity off the tee. Will continue to improve as his load and lower half improve. 

Lane Dougherty, C/RHP, Talawanda HS, 2016
6-foot, 178-pound prospect. Projects best as a pitcher at this stage. Throws from low 3/4 to 3/4 arm slot with some quickness. Creates good arm side run to his fastball at 77-80 mph. Uses a slurvy breaking ball that tended to be a bit erratic at 59-62 mph. Changeup sat at 62-64 mph. Behind the plate, he uses long arm action to reach a top velocity of 72 mph from the crouch. Pop times sat between 2.40 to 2.44. At the plate, he starts in a tall, open stance. Shows some quickness in his hands (84 mph exit velocity) with slight uphill path. Pull tendencies in his swing. 

Logan Bernhardt, SS/3B, La Salle HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 145-pound prospect with small, athletic frame. Projects as a second base type. Uses short arm action with a top velocity of 64 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Uses a short stride with partial use of his lower half. Short path to the ball and uses the whole field. Top exit velocity of 69 mph off the tee.

Mitchell Kelley, RHP/SS, Marysville HS, 2016
6-foot, 150-pound prospect with athletic frame. Projects as a second base or third base type. Uses short arm action with a top velocity of 74 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts with an open stance. Tendency to wrap in his load. Takes level path to the ball. Line drive type production. Registered top exit velocity of 78 mph off the tee. On the mound, he uses slow, deliberate rhythm to his delivery. Minimal use of his lower half. Stays on line with good direction. Fastball is straight at 77-78 mph. Breaking ball shows some late bite at 63-65 mph. Changeup has some run at 66-67 mph.

Nick Harker, RHP/1B, CHCA, 2016
6-foot-4, 190-pound prospect with big, tall frame. Uses short arm action through high 3/4 arm slot with a top velocity of 68 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts in an open stance. Tendency to bar and get around the ball. Shows quickness in his hands with a top exit velocity of 86 mph off the tee. On the mound, the righty throws through a 3/4 arm slot with short arm action. Fastball shows run at 72-75 mph. Breaking ball has gradual 11/5 action at 61-63 mph while changeup sits at 62-64 mph. Will improve as he quickness pace of his lower half in his delivery. 

Nick Silvis, IF, Indian Lake HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 135-pound prospect. Projects as a second base type. Uses long arm action through high 3/4 arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 66 mph. Accuracy can be effected by his tendency to open up his front side early. At the plate, he starts in an athletic stance. Uses a short stride. Compact with little wasted movement. High contact type swing from the left side. Overall smooth rhythm. Line drive type production. Top exit velocity of 70 mph. 

Noah Mehrle, OF, St. Xavier HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 175-pound propsect with athletic frame. Shows feel for the outfield position. Reached a top velocity of 82 mph with obvious quickness to his arm. Will only get better as he plays through the baseball and shortens up his transfer. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts in a wide stance with high hands. Hands work quickly in and out of the zone with slight uphill path. Top exit velocity of 91 mph. Needs to continue improving swing path and lower half to maximize full potential. 

Noah Stockman, SS/2B, St. Xavier HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 140-pound prospect with small, athletic frame. Uses short arm action and throws through over the top slot. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph. Will improve as he plays through the baseball and plays on the toes of his feet. At the plate, he is a upper body type hitter. Minimal load with partial use of his lower half. Takes, short level path to the ball. Top exit velocity of 75 mph. On the mound, he throws form a high 3/4 arm slot. Smooth rhythm to his delivery with good use of his lower half. Fastball sat 76-77 mph with some run to it. Curveball showed 11/5 action at 67 mph while slider had tighter action at 70-71 mph. Changeup showed some fade at 71-72 mph. 

Nolan Elsbury, OF, Zionsville HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 155-pound prospect with thin, athletic frame. Showed good feel from the outfield position with fluid footwork. Plays through the ball and creates momentum towards his target. Quick transfer with a top velocity of 81 mph from a high 3/4 slot. At the plate, he starts from an open stance. Uses a short stride. Consistently squares up his front side. Short, slightly uphill path with line drive production. Overall, fluid rhythm to his wing. Top exit velocity of 78 mph. 

Ryan Byrne, C, McNicholas HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 205-pound catcher with thick frame. Uses long arm action from high 3/4 arm slot from the crouch. Reached a top velocity of 69 mph. Shows good direction. Pop times ranged between 2.32 to 2.34. At the plate, he starts with an open stance. Uses a short stride with good use of his lower half. Takes uphill path to the ball with fluid rhythm to his swing. Top exit velocity of 75 mph off the tee.

Ryan McGiness, SS/3B, Covington Catholic (KY), 2016
5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect with solid, athletic frame. Throws with short arm action through 3/4 arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 74 mph across the infield. Shows range and ability to make plays on the run. At the plate, the right-handed hitters start with his weight on his backside. Hands get away from the body in his load. Swing path is slighty uphill. Some strength in his hands with a top exit velocity of 81 mph. 

Ryan McLelland, OF/LHP, Anderson HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 165-pound prospect. Uses long arm action through high 3/4 arm slot with top velocity of 78 mph. Plays through the ball and shows some athleticism in his feet. At the plat,e he starts with an open stance and in a bit of a crouch. Uses a big upper half load with a toe tap. Takes slight uphill path with line drive production. On the mound, he throws through a 3/4 to high 3/4 arm slot. Uses slow rhythm to his tall and fall type delivery. Good direction and repeatable. Fastball sat at 69-72 mph with some arm side run. Breaking ball sat at 58-60 mph with 10/4 action while changeup was thrown near fastball arm speed at 63-64 mph.

Sam Stewart, 3B, Granville HS, 2016
6-foot, 170-pound infield prospect. Shows athleticism in his feet that could play at second base or a corner outfield spot as well. Good feel for third base. Natural reactions and good first step. Uses short arm acton through high 3/4 arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 83 mph with some carry to his throws. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance from the right side. Uses a small leg kick to initiate his strong lower half. Gets extension through his swing with line drive production.

Stephen Melton, C/3B, Madison HS, 2016
5-foot-7, 165-pound with small, athletic frame. Uses short arm action through high 3/4 slot. Reached a top velocity of 65 mph with pop times ranging between 2.28 to 2.55. Good direction with his feet. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts in a balanced stance. Uses a toe tap and short stride. Displays inside/out production in his swing. 

Trent Spikes, RHP/SS, Loveland HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 165-pound prospect with lanky, athletic frame. Projects best as a pitcher at this stage. Throws with short arm action through high 3/4 arm slot. Uses slight inward turn with good hip lead. Good direction in his delivery and lands on line. Fastball sat 78-79 mph with occasional run. Breaking ball showed spin at 65-66 mph. Also uses a 67 mph slider with some bite to it. Changeup was straight at 71-73 mph. In the field, he shows some quickness in his arm with a top velocity of 77 mph. Will only improve as he creates angles and plays through the baseball. At the plate, he starts in a bit of a crouch. Uses big weight shift in his swing. Drops his hands in his load creating an uphill path to the ball. Obvious quickness in his hands. Registered top exit velocity of 83 mph off the tee.

Tyler Horstman, RHP/3B, Brookville HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed pitching prospect with solid, mature frame. Throws through 3/4 arm slot with short arm action. Slow deliberate rhythm to his delivery. Plenty of room to improve with better use of his lower half. Fastball showed some run at 76-79 mph. Breaking ball has gradual 11/5 action at 61-64 mph. Tends to slow down arm speed on 67-69 mph changeup.

Tyler McPeek, C/RHP, Oak Hills HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 150-pound prospect with small, athletic frame. Uses short arm action through low 3/4 to 3/4 arm slot, which creates some run to his throws. Pop times between 2.38 to 2.40 with top velocity of 61 mph from the crouch. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance. Uses a small leg kick with a big load. Hands get slotted and work through slight uphill path. Top exit velocity of 68 mph.

Tyler Wenzel, MIF/RHP, Springboro HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 155-pound prospect with small, athletic frame. Projects as a second base type. Uses long arm action through 3/4 arm slot. Will improve as he plays through the baseball. Top velocity of 74 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts in a balanced stance and uses a short stride. Shows partial use of his lower half. Short, level path to the ball. Top exit velocity of 67 mph. On the mound, he throws with average arm speed through a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball sat 72-75 mph with some arm side run. Breaking ball showed slurvy type action at 60-61 mph. Tends to slow down arm speed on 64-65 mph changeup that showed similar movement to his fastball. 

Tyler Wilson, OF, West Carrollton HS, 2016
6-foot, 195-pound outfield prospect with solid frame. Projects as a corner type. Uses long arm action through a high 3/4 arm slot. Showed accuracy to his throws with a top velocity of 73 mph. At the plate, he uses a leg kick to initiate his lower half. Obvious quickness in his swing with pull tendencies. Registered impressive 86 mph exit velocity off the tee. 

Will Laidler, RHP/OF, Oakwood HS, 2016
6-foot, 162-pound prospect with average, athletic frame. Throws with short arm action through high 3/4 arm slot. Regular effort to his delivery. Tends to land closed in his delivery. Fastball was straight at 69-72 mph. Breaking ball showed some depth at 63 mph while changeup was thrown for strikes near fastball arm speed at 61-62 mph.
