On July 22nd and 23rd,  Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted the 2017 Top Prospect Games at English Field on the campus of Virginia Tech.  Some of the best 2017's in the Commonwealth showcased their skills for various colleges and the PBR staff. 2017 TOp Prospect games: pitcher analysis (mceachern-yogi)

Ryan McEachern, RHP, Patrick Henry, 2017
McEachern has a lanky, athletic frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a tall and fall delivery. He has a long, loose arm action with a bit of a wrap and a lightning fast armstroke that generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are uphill and he strides out online to a square landing before coming to an athletic finish with a slight recoil. McEachern’s fastball sat 77-80 and touched as high as 82. It had good downward plane to it and slight running action. His curveball had sharp 10/4 action and was thrown with full armspeed, running 64-69. His changeup was thrown with decent armspeed and had armside run, sitting 73-75. McEachern’s fastball and curveball command was very good.

Ryan Miles, MIF/RHP, Woodgrove, 2017
Miles has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a long, quick arm action that generates velocity with regular effort. His shoulders are uphill and he strides out on line to a square landing before falling off a bit as he finishes. Miles’ fastball had slight sink to it and he touched 82, working primarily at 80-81. His curveball had 12/6 action to it and ran 67-70.

Will Moore, RHP, The Covenant School, 2017
Moore has an athletic frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a long, loose arm action and a quick armstroke that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides out on line to a closed landing before falling off as he finishes. Moore’s fastball sat 79-83 and had late sink to it. He threw a slider that had late downer break to it with decent armspeed and ran 72-76. His changeup was thrown with decent armspeed and had armside run, sitting 68-72. Overall his command was decent, as he was around the zone with all three pitches.

Ronald Payne, LHP/OF, William Monroe, 2017
Payne has an athletic frame with a strong lower half and throws over the top with a tall and fall delivery. His arm action is short and he generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are uphill and slightly closed as he strides out to a closed landing before falling off as he finishes. His angle and crossfire delivery made it tough for hitters to pick the ball up. Payne’s fastball had a ton of plane to it and some late cutting action. He threw strikes with it and sat 77-79, touching as high as 81. He moved the pitch inside an out impressively. He also threw a 12/6 curveball with decent armspeed for strikes that ran 63-67.

Cade Pickette, C/CIF/RHP, Patriot, 2017
Pickette has an athletic frame and throws from and over the top arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action and generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are slightly uphill and slightly closed as he strides out online to a square landing before coming to an athletic finish. Pickette’s fastball had slight cutting action and ran 68-72. His curveball had gradual 11/5 action and was thrown with decent armspeed and sat 64. His changeup had sinking action and was thrown for strikes at 58.

James Price, RHP, Patriot, 2017
Price has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose arm action and a quick armstroke that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are very elevated and closed as he strides out on line to a square landing before coming to an athletic finish. Price’s fastball touched 81 and he worked in the 78-80 range with late sink. His curveball had late 11/5 action to it and ran 66-69. His changeup was a plus offering, thrown with full armspeed and fading action, running 67-72. He nibbled a bit in his first inning of work but showed outstanding command in and out of the zone of all of his pitches in his other two innings of work.

Adam Seal, RHP/3B, Powhatan, 2017
Seal has a lanky frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth delivery. He has a quick arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are level and closed and he strides out on line before landing slightly closed. Seal’s fastball ran 75-79 with late, heavy sink to it. He threw a slider with late, 10/4 break and decent arm speed that ran 62-67. He also showed a changeup decent arm speed and fading action that he threw for strikes at 66-67.

Timothy Stephan, RHP/3B, Highland, 2017
Stephan has an athletic frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a long arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are level and closed as he strides out on line to a slightly open landing before falling off a bit as he finishes. Stephan’s fastball sat 80-81, touching 82, with slight sink to it. He threw a late 10/4 breaking slider with decent armspeed that ran 70-71. He also showed a split change with fading action and good armspeed that he commanded well and ran 71-73.

Tyler Tarrh, RHP, Riverbend, 2017
Tarrh has a lanky frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a choppy drop and drive delivery. He has a long arm action with a bit of a wrap and a quick armstroke, generating velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are level and closed as he strides out online to an open landing before finishing in an athletic position. Tarrh’s fastball sat 76-78, touching 79, with late run and a bit of sink to it. He threw a sharp, 12/6 curveball with decent armspeed for strikes that ran 58-62. His changeup had decent armspeed and had armside run to it, sitting 63-65.

Tanner White, RHP/3B, James River, 2017
White has an athletic frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a quick arm that generates easy velocity. His shoulders are closed and level as he strides out online to a square landing before falling off slightly as he finishes. White’s fastball touched 84 and he worked from 82-83 with some late run to it. His curveball had late 12/6 action and was thrown with decent armspeed, running 69-73. He also flashed a tight slider with 10/4 break that was 77.

Austin Yogi, RHP/3B, Amelia County, 2017
Yogi has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters slot with a rushed drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action and decent armspeed that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed as he strides out and lands closed before coming to an athletic finish. Yogi’s fastball ran 75-78 with some sinking action and he also showed the ability to cut it a bit. His curveball had sharp 12/6 action and was thrown with decent armspeed running 62-64. He also threw a fading changeup with decent armspeed that sat 69.
