Entering high school, Tanner Schimmoeller measured a mere 5-foot-6 inches tall.

Now, nearly midway through his senior year of high school, the late blooming right-handed pitcher from Ottawa-Glandorf is an imposing 6-foot-6, 205-pound prospect.

At the recent Fall Unsigned Senior Games at Wright State, Schimmoeller showed a repeatable delivery for his size and threw downhill with an 81-83 mph fastball accompanied by a tight 69-70 mph breaking ball with two-plane action. He showed repeatability in his delivery and figures to seem a jump in velocity headed into next spring.

The big righty just started attended showing causes and as a result, he is putting his name of the radar of college coaches.

Unlike many prospects, he is just beginning the recruiting process.

“I’m just really starting to get to know some of the coaches and the schools.  For those schools that have contacted me first - I’ve talked with them and have gotten to know them better,” he stated.

He continued, “As I attend more showcases, new schools are showing interest … I’m now starting the process of making choices on what schools I go see and setting up visits.”

This month, Schimmoeller will begin taking his first visits to several schools in the Midwest.

“At this early stage, any program that has shown interest in me is a school that I am researching and getting to know better,” he noted.

Schimmoeller holds a 2.5 GPA and 20 on his ACT.
