The BOMC - Hall of Fame Prospect Games (14U)



Below is a compilation of scouting notes throughout the BOMC/PBR Hall of Games from May 4 - May 8...

Team Demarini IL (Gold)
+ James Severson - RHP, average frame, long arm action. Fastball sat 70-72, worked heavily off of 11/5 curveball.

+ Robert Cox - Right-handed hitter showed god barrel awareness, athletic setup and flashed pop in his bat.

Top Tier - Navy
+ Anthony Livermore - Shortstop. Left-handed hitter with looseness in swing. Gap-to-gap hitter, drove a double to deep center field and singled up the middle.

+ Jack Lochner - Left-handed hitter, well-proportioned frame. Compact swing, level path and stays through the hitting zone. Hit a sharp single up the middle.

+ Jack Kuchel - Catcher. Right-handed hitter with a solid build. Offensively, flashed some pop in his bat with a double to the opposite field. Defensively, quick exchange and not afraid to throw behind runners.

+ Chris Seropian - LHP. Repeatable delivery, stays on line and clean arm action. Fastball thrown for strikes and clocked at 72-73 mph. Flashed a changeup at 66 mph.

+ Rohan Shah - Long and lean, two-way prospect with projection. Offensively, right-handed hitter, looseness in swing, laced a line drive up the middle. On the mound the right-hander flashed a loose arm and easy effort. Fastball sat 76-77 mph. Changeup clocked at 65 mph.

+ Colin Diehm - L/L two-way prospect with an extra large, advanced frame. Offensively, present strength and easy juice in his bat, exhibited by an opposite field home run. Bright future on the mound. Loose, clean arm out of a high 3/4 window. Full, controlled leg-lift, lands square, on-line and easy effort. Fastball sat 77-79 mph with more in the tank. Changeup clocked at 71 mph. Flashed a big bending curveball with 11/5 shape and depth.

Naperville Renegades
+ Ryan Auer - L/L right-fielder, long lean loose frame, really projects. Showed actions in the outfield, arm looked to play well with carry. At the plate, tall setup, calm relaxed approach and pre-pitch load. Could also be a follow on the mound. 

+ Cade Sullivan - Right-handed hitter, athletic setup, balanced in the box. Loose hands with aggressive swing. Showed a fast bat, hard contact up the middle, follow bat. On day two of the tournament continued to impress with his bat, making more hard contact, including a long home run to left-center field.

+ Eben Heine - Right-handed hitter flashed easy pop in his bat on a double. 4.97 on the turn.

+ Mitch Rokosz - Smaller frame, right-handed pitcher. Long arm action, fastball sat 66-67. Curveball clocked at 59 mph.

+ Andrew Petsche - Right-handed hitter with an athletic, advanced frame. Balanced, slightly open setup and uses all fields at the plate.

Rhino Baseball
+ Connor Best - RHP, large build for his age, strong lower half, developed body type. Arm action plays over the top. Fastball sat 80-81 mph, mostly straight, four seam type. Showed a rolling curveball, occasinoally 12/6.

+ Trevor McLaughlin - Right-handed hitter, with a defined lower half, athletic build  with loose swing, quick hands, showed hard contact to pull side. Hit a line drive up the middle on day two. Also, is a right-handed pitcher. Works across body slightly. Fastball has cuttiing action at times, 75-79 mph. Curveball 11/5 shape, 63-67 mph.

+ Marc Babicz - Shortstop. Made a diving catch, ranging a long way into right center field. Also, hit a double off of the right-field wall. 

+ Daniel Dombrowski - Long and lean, projectable right-handed pitcher. Long, clean arm action. Fastball/curveball combination.

Indiana Bulldogs
+ Timmy Darche - Catcher. Right-handed hitter showed big pull side pop with a home run to left-field.

+ Tyler D Nelson - Average build, right-handed hitter. Short bat path, controls the barrel, with power to the opposite field gap. Hit a double and home run to right-center field. Follow bat.

+ Tyler J Nelson - Right-handed hitter, long-limbed projectable build. Open setup, balanced swing, hit a line-drive RBI single to left field.

+ Christian Mojica - Thick, strong frame with present strength. Right-handed hitter, aggressive swinger, does not get cheated at the plate. Hit a long single off of the right-field wall.

+ David Sharp - Two-way player. On the mound, the right-hander works with a clean arm out of a 3/4 to high 3/4 slot. Fastball, thrown for strikes, sat 68-70 mph. Flashed a breaking ball in warmups with tight spin and 10/4 shape. Also hit a double to left field.

Tyler Nemtuda - LHP. Athletic, projectable build. Clean, repeatable, athletic delivery. Loose, quick arm action out of a high 3/4 slot. Pounded the strike zone with a fastball/breaking ball combination. Fastball, slight arm-side-run 75-78 mph. Breaking ball flashed slider action, feel, 2/8 shape, sat 65-67 mph.

PBA Wisconsin


Chicagoland Panthers
+ Jacob Arquette - Left-handed pitcher with a long and lean, athletic, projectable frame. Over the head windup, smooth rhythm, repeatable delivery and stays on-line. Quick, loose arm action. Fastball sat 73-74.

+ Eric Skala - Physical right-handed hitter, makes consistent strong contact at the plate. Hit a line-drive home run to left-center field. Quick bat, short to the ball. Open setup and smooth pre-pitch load.

+ Liam Fitzgerald - Left-handed hitter with a strong frame. Open setup, simple, compact swing and looks to pull the ball.

+ Will Farren - Left-handed hitter with a lean, projectable build. Balanced setup, crouched load. Long strider, fluid runner.

Top Tier Black
+ Edwin Alvarez - 3B. Strong lower half, steady hands and plays with energy on the infield. Left-handed hitter. 

Top Tier - Nationals
+ Tyler Cwik - Left-handed hitter. Looks to be plus defender for his age in center field. Fluid movements and good reads.

+ Joel Sarver - Hit a line-drive double to right-center field.


DBA's 2020
+ DJ Butler - Switch-hitter with good barrel from both sides of the plate. Showed plate discipline and battled with two-strikes. Looked to bunt for a hit from the left-side of the plate. Hit a line-drive single to right-field.

+ Alec Gonzalez - Advanced, athletic frame, two-way prospect. High follow right-handed hitter; present bat speed and easy power in his bat. Starts from a slightly open setup, rhythm and looseness in swing. Consistent hard contact; Hit a homerun and single. Defensively, at shortstop flashed fluid footwork an above-average arm and range. Also, a right-handed pitcher. Long, clean arm action. Fastball, tilt, thrown for strikes and clocked at 74-75 mph. Curveball thrown with fastball arm speed and clocked at 67 mph. High follow 2020 prospect.

+ Benjamin Wiegman - Strong, advanced frame, present strength, two-way prospect. Right-handed hitter with pull power. Looks to lift the baseball and ball jumps off his bat. Hit a home run in his first at-bat. Also, added two hard hits singles on the day. On the mound, advanced arm strength for his age. Fastball, thrown for strikes and clocked at 80-83 mph. Showed good feel for a knuckle ball; tumbling action and sat 70-73 mph. Short arm action, on-line delivery and athletic finish. High follow two-way prospect in the 2020 class.

+ Jaylen Greene - 1B. Left-handed hitter with a lanky, projectable frame. Athletic swing, stays on top of the baseball. Crouched setup and pre-pitch rhythm. Hit a deep home run  to center field and a line-drive single into the right-center field gap.

+ Joseph Virruso - High follow left-handed hitter. Uses the entire field, loose swing, power to the opposite gap and makes consistent hard contact. Hit a home run to left-center field, drove a double to left-center field and hit a single to left-field. Advanced approach at the plate.

Crystal Lake Cardinals (Blue)
+ Neeko Rivera - Right-handed pitcher. Coiled delivery, hides the ball. Fastball sat 69-70 mph. Curveball 11/5 action and sat 61-62 mph.

+ Jack Mahoney - Two-way prospect. Defensively, at shortstop, flashed athletic actions, soft hands and a strong arm. On the mound, works from a 3/4 slot, live arm and throws a lot of strikes.

Glenview Blaze Black
+ Lukas Kim - Lean, right-handed pitcher with plenty of room to fill out. Fastball thrown for strikes and sat 70-71 mph.

+ Mike Budorick - Left-handed hitter with a loose swing, barrel control. Hit a line-drive single to left field.

Batavia Bandits
+ Drew Iutzwig - RHP, big frame for his age, should project to a sturdy pitchers body. Head stays on line, arm action is long, occasionally lat to release point. Fastball ranged 70-74 mph from a 3/4 slot, ability to make the ball run. Flashed a breaking ball ranging 59-63 mph. Offensively, right-handed hitter, open setup with rhythm and looks hitterish in the batters box.

+ Sam Theim - Left-handed hitter with a strong lower half. Hit a backside double down the left-field line.

+ Carlos Liz - Lean build, right-handed pitcher. Simple, repeatable delivery, stays on-line. Clean, loose arm, high 3/4 slot; fastball sat 64-67 mph. Curveball sat 59-60 mph.

St. Charles Saints Orange
+ Clay Conn - Average frame, left-handed hitting shortstop. Offensively, short, quick bat, line-drive approach with rhythm throughout. Hit a line-drive single up the middle. Defensively, smooth defender, fluid footwork and hands work well on the infield. Follow middle infielder.

+ Steven Arrambide - Second baseman. Made one of the plays of the tournament, snagging a line-drive at the apex of his jump. Offensively, compact swing, high contact type hitter, lined out to the right-fielder.

+ Grant Meador - Right-handed pitcher with an average build. Simple delivery, finished square and online. Fastball sat 64-65 mph. Curveball clocked at 56 mph.

Hitters Baseball
+ Colton Coca - 3B, lean athletic frame, projectable. Right-handed hitter, advanced approach at the plate, Atheltic setup and relaxed look, hitterish. Level path through the zone and makes consistent strong contact. Upside follow.

+ Tommy Lamb - LHP, lean slender build, long legs. Repeatable delivery, stays on line and balanced, good feel for the strike zone. Gets tilt on his fastball, works downhill, sat 75-76 mph. Pitched off fastball showing occasional 1/7 curveball. Projects well as a high pitchability guy. 

+ TJ Manteufel - SS. Right-handed hitter, showed good barrel control. Good feel in the box, high contact hitter. Defensively, steady hands and feel for the middle infield.

+ Gunner Doyle - Left-handed hitter with an advanced, strong frame. Presence in  the batters box. Slightly open setup, short, quick bat, present strength through contact. Hit a home run to left-center field.

Team Demarini (Black)
+ Ryan Crotty - Extra large frame, right-handed pitcher. Long arm action, fastball sat 63-64 mph.

+ Greyson Cone - Wiry, lanky framed right-handed pitcher. Long and loose arm action.

+ Colin Theis - Hit a line-drive single into the right-center field gap.

Top Tier - American
+ Kyle Blum - Catcher. Athletic, well-proportioned frame. Right-handed hitter hit a home run to left-center field.

Team ESP
+ Logan Mont - Athletic SS, showed advance body control for his age, potential high follow defender, good actions and soft glove. Arm action can get long, showed carry across on athletic body control play. 4.3 down the line on a bunt.

+ Ryan Thiesse - Showed pop with a HR in first at-bat.

+ Keaton Hopwood - RHP, lean loose frame, shorter quick arm action, over the top. Fastball sat 76-77 mph, mostly straight four seam action. Curveball at 67 mph, some feel.

+ Nick Pratscher - RHP. Fastball was 68-70 mph. Curveball clocked at 64 mph.

Illinois Edge
+ Ethan Raspolich - Smaller frame. Right-handed hitter flashed pull pop with a double over the left-fielders head.

Nick Schindler - Solid, large frame. Right-handed hitter with juice in his bat. Hit a home run over the left-field fence.

+ Connor Gill - Left-handed hitter flashed bat speed at the plate. Athletic runner, fluid on the base paths.

+ Nate Gerke - Shortstop. Feel for the middle infield, advanced body control, steady hands and an accurate arm. Made to run-through plays look easy.

+ Ryan Daly - Right-handed hitter. Hit a line-drive single up-the-middle.
