All-State Prospect ID Showcase: Middle Infield Analysis







On Tuesday, June 9th, we hosted the All-State Prospect ID showcase at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. The event was open to all high school players and included; 2 (2015's), 13 (2016's), 19 (2017's), 23 (2018's) and 6 (2019's).  Below we analyze the middle infielders from the event.
  

IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER

Thomas Barmes, INF, South Knox, 2015:  The 6-foot-2 215 pound infielder ran a 7.33 60 yard dash.  Jimmy has a long and loose arm action.   Throws across infield were 74mph.  He has above average hands and quick exchange.   Offensively, Thomas has a tall setup and small leg kick.   Bat path is short with above average bat speed.  Exit velocity was 80mph.

Riley Bottoms, INF, Vincennes Lincoln, 2017:  The 5-foot-10 145 pound utility player ran a 7.32 60 yard dash.  At the plate, he is balanced in his setup with a smooth load.  Bat path is short and level.  Exit velocity was 80 mph. Defensively, Riley has a long arm action.  Hands are average and exchange is clean.  Throws across the infield were 77mph.

Reagan Carter, INF, Western, 2018:  The 5-foot-9 150 pound infielder ran a 7.68 60 yard dash.  Reagan has a balanced setup with a back load at the plate.  Stride is short and balanced is good.  Reagan has a level bat path.  Exit velocity was 74.  Defensively, arm action is short and a ¾ arm slot.  Arm strength was average.  Footwork was average and exchange was quick.   

Sameul Crail, INF, Sheridan, 2017:  The 5-foot-10 190 pound left-handed hitting infielder has a balanced setup with a small leg kick.  Has some pop at the plate.  Produced an exit velocity of 90.  Sam ran a 6.91 60yd dash.  Defensively, he has a short and loose arm action.   Hands are above average and footwork is long.  Exchange is clean.  Infield velocity was 78mph.

Jimmy Gephart, INF, Bishop Fenwick (OH), 2016:  The 6-foot-2 170 pound infielder ran a 7.47 60 yard dash.   Offensively, Jimmy has a tall setup with a drop in hand load.  Above average bat speed and slightly uphill bat path.   His exit velocity was 77mph.  Defensively, Jimmy has quick footwork and exchange.  Arm action is short and over the top.   Throws across the infield topped at 76mph. 

Colin Goebel, INF, Dekalb, 2018:  The 5-foot-10 150 pound utility player ran a 7.41 60 yd dash.  Defensively, he has a short arm action with accurate throws that had carry.  Hands were average and exchange was clean, but long.  Offensively, Colin has a balanced load with a short stride.  Tendency to dive forward.  Colin produced line drives throughout batting practice.  Exit velocity was 78mph.

Kevin Grimes, INF, Hamilton Southeastern, 2018:  The 6-foot 160 pound utility player ran a 7.87 60 yd dash.  On defense, arm action was long and overtop.  Hands were average with a long exchange.  At the plate, Kevin had an exit velocity of 67mph.  He has a balanced setup with short stride.  Balance is good and barrel has a tendency to drag.  Hit line drives during batting practice.

Mark Goudy, INF, Noblesville, 2018:  The 5-foot-7 140 pound infielder ran a 7.32 60 yard dash.  Defensively, he produced an infield velocity of 75.  Arm action is short and throws were accurate.  Exchange was quick and plays through the ball well.  Offensively, Mark produced an exit velocity of 80mph.  At the plate, he has a balanced setup with no hand load.  Short stride and level bat path.  Rhythm is fluid.

Chancey Holdsworth, INF Greensburg, 2017:  The 5-foot-8 145 pound infielder ran a 7.5 60 yard dash.  Chancy has a loose arm action with some carry.   Above average hands and a quick exchange defensively.  Offensively, Chancy produced a 75mph exit velocity.  His setup is balanced with an open crouch.   Bat path is level with some extension.  Good rhythm at the plate.

Caleb Matthews, INF, New Castle, 2017:  The 5-foot-10 165 pound infielder ran a 7.62 60 yard dash.  Arm action across the infield was loose and throws had carry.  Hands were above average and footwork was quick.  Plays through the ball well.   Offensively, Caleb has fast bat speed and a level bat path.  Setup is open with a small leg kick into his load.  Good rhythm at the plate.  Exit velocity of 83mph.            

Matt Olovich, INF, Guerin Catholic, 2017:  The 5-foot-10 170 pound utility player showcased a long arm action with life.  Hands were above average with a clean exchange.  Footwork can get long in the infield.  Smooth in the outfield.  Offensively, he has a balanced setup with a level bat path.  Hands are fast.  Matt ran a 7.15 60.   Outfield velocity was 91, infield 83.

Riley Reagan, INF, Western Boone, 2018:  The 5-foot-7 155 pound infielder ran a 7.47 60 yard dash.  Defensively, throws across the infield topped at 76mph.  Footwork was quick and exchange was clean.  At the plate, Riley has a balanced setup with a short stride.  Bat path is level and produced line drives during BP.  Exit velocity was 77mph.

Eli Reed, INF, Tell City, 2016:  The 5-foot-8 175 pound infielder ran a 7.75 60 yard dash.  Eli hits from a crouch and average balance.  Load is small and bat path is long.  Defensively, Eli had a positional velocity of 68mph.  Arm action is short and throws were accurate.  Average hands and clean exchange. 

Jacob Reiber, Roncalli, INF, 2017:  The 5-foot-9 135 pound infielder ran a 7.4 60 yard dash.  Defensive actions were athletic.  Hands were above average.  Arm action was short and throws had carry.  Positional velocity was 76 in infield, 79 in the outfield.  Offensively, Jacob has a tall setup with back load.  Stride is long and bat path is uphill.  Exit velocity was 74mph. 

Sam Santos, INF, Noblesville, 2018:  The 5-foot-9 152 pound infielder ran a 7.6 60 yard dash.  Sam has above average hands and fluid footwork.  Exchange is clean and throws had some carry at 75mph across the infield.  At the plate, Sam has a crouch setup with a small leg kick.  Balance is good.  Bat speed is above average.  Sam produced an exit velocity of 80mph.  

Jamie Stouder, INF, Bremen, 2019:  The 5-foot-7 143 pound infielder ran a 7.69 60 yard dash.  At the plate, Jamie hits from a balanced setup and short stride.  He produced an exit velocity of 83.  Defensively, arm action is long with some accurate throws.  Velocity across the infield was 68mph.   Hands were average with a clean exchange.

Craig Yoho, INF, Fishers, 2018:  The 6-foot 165 pound infielder ran a 7.3 60 yard dash.  Craig has athletic actions up the middle.  Glove is soft and footwork is fluid.  Plays thru the ball well.  Arm action is short and loose.  Infield velocity was 79mph.  Offensively, he produced an exit velocity of 87mph.  Setup is open with a small leg kick.  Bat speed is above average and path is uphill.
