PBR: Why did you choose Dakota State?

I chose Dakota state for many reasons. One is that it is a smaller school with small classes and I do better in smaller classes than bigger classes. Two is that I really enjoyed the campus and felt that I was where I needed to be when I went on my visit. Three is that I really like how the coaches wanted to play the game and how they treated me, my little brother, and my parents as family from the start. Four is I have family up in Madison so I would have someone there for me if I ever needed anything.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

I looked into other schools such as Northwestern St. Paul, University of Colorado, University of Souix Falls and a couple more.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

I first got in contact with the coaches when my aunt(who lives in Madison) told me to look into the school. I did and I liked what I saw so I sent them a letter. They replied asking when I was gonna visit so they could talk to me. They had me do a work out on their field and it went really well. When I went home they continued to stay in contact with me and wanted to come watch a game, however we got knocked out of the state tourney. After the season they checked in on me fairly often and asked how other things such as football and school were going.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

My dad has been the biggest help. He was my coach ever since I was a little kid. He taught me everything I know about the game and I will never be able to thank him enough. Another person would be one of my high school coaches Brady Hohl. He pushed and pushed me to be my best at all times and continued to tell me I could do it. He took the time to go to the field in the middle of the day and help me with bunting, hitting, fielding you name it.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

The plans for the future depend. I have to prove myself everyday if I want to play because grade level doesn’t matter. The best will play.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

My most memorable moment would have to be making the high school team. To be honest I was scared for my baseball career because going into freshmen year I was about 5’1 and 95lb. I thought I wasn’t gonna be big enough to play at the next level. It seemed that kids were crushing the ball compared to me but luckily I was fast and I could drop a pretty nice bunt.

PBR: Who is the best player in the state you have played against?

I’m gonna have to say Kyle Perry because he has become a way better pitcher than he was when we played on the Millard Piranhas together.
