2017 Spring Team Preview: Crestwood Red Devils

Team Name: Mantua Crestwood
Head Coach: John Bakalar
Division: II
2016 Record: 16-9
Conference Record: Portage Trail Conference (County Division), 7-5
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/4

2017 Team Strengths:

  • Experience
  • Pitching
  • Catching

2017 Team Weaknesses:

  • Defense
  • Replacing Three All Conference Players
  • Handling Expectations, Recognition, and Success

Coach Outlook: "Last season we began 8-2 and ranked as high as #24 by PBR before finishing the season 16-9. It was the fifth time in the past eight seasons Crestwood won 15 or more games. 2017 there will be high expectations due to several starters returning, many who will become three-year starters. The Portage Trail Conference County Division will be very competitive with Lake Center Christian, Mogadore, and Rootstown also returning most of their team from last year. The Division II Euclid District is also very competitive with powers Chagrin Falls, Benedictine, CVCA and Woodridge."
