Summit Country Day is coming off a 23-6 season and looking to put together the pieces to improve upon last year’s success.

With Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy rightfully earning plenty of attention, Summit Country Day is looking to unseat the CHCA squad as the Miami Valley Conference champions.

Coach Callos returns four starters as well as three pitchers. Two of those pitchers, left-handed senior Tommy Crowl and right-handed junior Doug Compton, are back to form a 1-2 punch in the rotation. With four-year starter Jack Meiniger at shortstop, Compton in centerfield, and senior Michael Jaeger and talented sophomore Eric Terry sharing time behind the plate, the core pieces are in place for Summit Country Day.

If the stars align, Summit Country Day could find itself playing Maderia High School in the Division III sectional finals for the third straight year.

Class of 2013

  • LHP/1B, Tommy Crowl – The 6-foot-2, 175-pound senior is coming off arm troubles that stopped him from playing last summer. Last season, he went 5-2 with a 2.12 ERA in 39 plus innings of work. On his career, he is 10-2 with a 2.08 ERA. He also hit .383 last spring. The unsigned senior is receiving strong interest from Marietta.
  • SS, Jack Meininger – The 5-foot-11, 160-pound four-year starter hit .324 as a junior. However, he missed over half the season with a broken wrist. The unsigned senior has above average speed.
  • C/1B, Michael Jaeger – The 6-foot, 205-pound prospect emerged as the starting catching during last year’s tournament run. He hit .254 as a junior.

Class of 2014

  • RHP/CF, Doug Compton – The 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect will be a three-year starter. He hit cleanup last year as a sophomore with a .296 average and 29 RBI. He went 3-0 on the hill with a 2.13 ERA.

Class of 2015

  • C/2B, Eric Terry – The 5-foot-8, 165-pound prospect has advanced catch and receive skills for his age. He is a switch hitter that will lead the offense from the top of the lineup.
  • RHP, Mark Peterson – The 5-foot-11, 180-pound righty will likely be the number for starter this season.

Class of 2016

  • SS/2B, Will Mackey – The 5-foot-8, 145-pound freshman will compete for time at second base this spring.
