+ RHP Jonathan Stevens (Briarwood Christian, 2023) is the other piece to the Lions’ two-headed pitching monster that is going to be tough to beat throughout the rest of the playoffs. Stevens, an Alabama signee, is a former PBR Future Gamer that is listed at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds and has an extremely fast arm coming out of a high, compact ¾ arm slot. Working exclusively from the stretch the whole night, the right-hander was comfortably sitting 89-91 mph for the entirety of his outing and grabbed a 92 mph in the second inning on a two-strike offering. Like Meeks, Stevens may not have had his best command for his fastball in the outing but was still extremely effective and worked out of a few jams during his outing while surrendering just one run and allowing no hits in the rain-shortened contest. The right-hander’s slider was dialed in from the get-go as a put-away offering with two strikes in the 76-78 mph range and consistent spin rates near the 2500 rpm mark. He collected numerous swings-and-misses with offering, while being able to back-foot it to left-handers and sweep it across the strike zone against right-handers. He finished earning the W going 5.2 IP, 0 H, R, 7 BB, & 6 Ks in the rain-shortened outing.
