ISLAND FUTURE GAMES TRIALS: QUICK HITS

Robert Scalzo RHP / Lambrick Park, BC / 2025

Scalzo is an intriguing uncommitted right-hander who showcased why he is ranked NO. 2 in BC’s 2025 class. At 6-foot-1, 200-pounds, his body works well down the mound and arm is lively. Scalzo topped 88mph at the Island Future Trials and has been upwards of 90mph this season. The Victoria Eagle shows major upside with a 4FB, 2FB, CH and SL mix. To date, he boasts 44 strikeouts in 38IP with a 3.65 ERA in his rookie BCPBL season. A must-watch for seasons to come in BC's 2025 class.

Lukas Le Gras C / 3B / Lambrick Park, BC / 2025

Currently ranked No. 4 in the 2025 class, Le Gras is a promising young catcher with major potential. Le Gras showcased pop times as low as 1.97 and clean transfers at his respected position. Beyond his elite release behind the plate, offensively his bat is already twitchy and still possesses a lot of untapped power. Lukas’ exit velocity was as high as 86mph at the Island Future Trials. He currently holds a .302 AVG in his rookie BCPBL season through 69 AB’s with the Victoria Eagles. In addition, Le Gras ran a 6.80 60-yard dash. A solid 2025 to follow who has potential to improve upon his already well-rounded skillset.

Travis Harfiel OF / RHP / West Coast Adventist School ( virtual), BC / 2025

Another exciting 2025 at our Island Futures Trial Event was Travis Harfield. With his 5-foot-10, 180-pound compact frame he 6.60 60-yard dash. Although it's still raw, his quick twitch movements had his FB velo as high as 88mph and his exit velo up to 87mph. Harfield’s fastball showed no lack of life and was complimented by a sharp breaking ball that sat 73-77mph. An all-round athlete with plenty of room for growth in the game.

Max Poirier RHP / OF / Dover Bay Secondary, BC / 2025

With a poised presence and a 6-foot-4, 150-pound build, Max Poirier had a strong showing off the mound at the Island Event. His 3/4 arm-slot provides plenty of arm side run on his fastball as well as major depth on his change-up. The fastball sat 82-83mph and reached up to 84mph. Poirier’s curveball showcased tight spin with solid sweeping action; sitting at 73-75mph. The tall, wiry arm is currently ranked No. 6 in BC's 2025 class.

Trevor Holme RHP / 3B / Ballenas, BC / 2025

Holme was one of the top showcased two-way players at the Island Futures Trials. With a 7.19/ 60 yard dash in a 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame there was a lot to like right out of the gate from the 2025. He had fluid actions on the infield with strong throws across reaching upwards of 81mph. Holme's fastball lived in the 83-84mph range, topping 85mph while his change-up was 76-78mph as well as a curveball that saw 69-71mph. At the plate, Holme has a strong foundation and looks to be a physical hitter. The Parksville Royal is an exciting up and comer in the BCPBL.
