This is the second installment of the Illinois Power 25 Team Rankings.

Climbing

New No. 1 St. Rita takes over for now No. 3 Mount Carmel, who suffered their first defeat of the season at the Super Prep Tournament in Louisville, KY to Southwestern High (KY) 5-3. The Mustangs have been dominant so far off to a 16-0 start, outscoring opponents 179-30 on the season. On their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, SC they outscored their four opponents 51-4.

New No. 2 Edwardsville climbs from No. 5 thanks to a hot 10-0 start. The Tigers return plenty of talent from last year’s Super-Sectional squad.

Chatham Glenwood rises to No. 4 thanks to sweeping then No. 7 Sacred Heart-Griffin twice last week in Central State 8 action.

Sinking

Sacred Heart-Griffin drops to No. 24 due to their 7-4 record, but the three losses they suffered last week were at the hands of undefeated Edwardsville and Glenwood.

Speaking of tough schedules, no one has played a tougher one than Lincoln-Way North. At the Super Prep tournament the Phoenix were dealt their fourth loss of the season, this one at the hands of No. 6 ranked Lawrence North (IN), who had ace righthander and Florida State-signee Jarret Montgomery on the mound. Lincoln-Way North’s other losses come at the hands of then No. 1 Joliet Catholic, No. 13 Brother Rice, and No. 20 Lockport.
