Updated Illinois Power 25 Team Rankings

This is the second installment of the Illinois Power 25 Team Rankings. The weather finally behaved over the weekend and most teams had to scramble to get games in for the better part of the week. Below is a breakdown of the what happened this past week.

CLIMBING

+ O’Fallon (15-1) - Now No. 3 in the state. Went 4-0 on the week outscoring opponents 34-4 in the four game span.

+ Mt. Carmel (9-1) - Knocked off Fenwick 9-3 and Richards 10-4 this past week. Climbed four spots.

+ St. Rita (8-2) - Went 3-0 on the week and now sit at No. 7. Pitching staff only gave up one run in the three victories.

+ Crystal Lake South (10-0) - Remains undefeated after three more games this past week. Swept a two-game set against No. 16 McHenry 4-2 and 1-0.

+ Glenwood (7-3) - Yet another team that went 3-0 on the week which included a 5-2 victory over No. 24 Normal West. Outscored opponents 34-3 on the week.

SINKING

+ St. Charles North (5-2) - Went 1-1 on the week. Lost to South Elgin 3-2.

+ Providence (6-3) - An up and down week for the Celtics. Went 2-1, knocking off No. 5 Lemont but dropping a game No. 18 Lincoln-Way Central.

+  Sandburg (4-1) - Still have only played five total games on the year. Went 1-1 on the week. Gave up a two run lead in the seventh inning on Saturday in a loss to Minooka.

+ Normal West (10-5) - Dropped to No. 24 after going 2-2 this week. The two losses came to Top 25 teams, Sacred Heart-Griffin (5-0) and Glenwood (5-2).

NEW TO THE TOP

+ Neuqua Valley (8-0-1) - Now No. 19 after a 3-0 week, which included a 5-2 victory over Naperville Central and LHP Ryan Eierman, a Texas Christian commit. Also, took two games from Metea Valley.

+ Sacred Heart-Griffin (9-3) - A huge 6-0 week catapults the Cyclones into the No. 21 spot. Two of the six wins were over No. 8 Edwardsvlle and No. 24 Normal West.

+ Minooka (6-2) - Jumped to No. 22 after knocking off No. 23 Sandburg 13-6. The Indians scored nine runs in the seventh to come from behind.

+ Oswego East (12-0) - Remained undefeated and climbed to No. 25 after a 3-0 week. The Wolves defeated Rockford Boylan 7-6, Harlem 4-1 and Deerfield 1-0 this past week.
