SATURDAY, MARCH 19

No. 3 St. Rita 5, Glenbrook North 4
Cal Greenfield
got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the ninth. The previous three St. Rita batters drew walks. Killian O’Hanlon pitched four scoreless innings to pick up the win in relief.

No. 5 Mount Carmel 5, Highland Park 4
Alek Thomas’s
solo home run in the bottom of the ninth won it for the Caravan. Jeremy Houston was perfect in 2⅓ innings of relief to pick up the win. Thomas, a sophomore, hit a team-high eight home runs as a freshman last season.

No. 5 Mount Carmel 15, Highland Park 1
Kenny Koval
and Justin Woodard had three hits each and Tom Peters went 2-for-3 with three RBI in the five-inning victory. Zion Pettigrew continued to stay hot offensively going 2-for-2 with a BB, RBI and three runs scored.

No. 9 Oak Park 5, Glenbrook South 1
Dali Durazo
doubled twice and drove in two and Jeremy Gaines went 2-for-2 with two walks for OPRF. Hank Christie pitched four solid innings, allowing three hits while striking out six.

No. 13 Lincoln-Way North 5, No. 8 Brother Rice 4 (9 innings)

 Nick Figus 4-for-5 and Ryan Anderson went 2-for-4 while Ian VanWitzenburg came on in relief and threw 6 innings of 1 run ball for the Phoenix in the extra-inning win. Andy Lopez and Sam Jones each had two hits for the Crusaders.

No. 15 Nazareth 10, Morton Cicero 0
Richie Kiernicki
pitched a no-hitter in the six-inning victory, striking out nine and walking none. He hit a batter. Will McKenna drove in four runs.

Murphysboro 9, No. 21 Alton 6
Braden Miller’s
two-run double was the big blow in a five-run bottom of the sixth that erased Alton’s 6-4 lead. Miller had an earlier RBI double and Brandon Graeff went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Murphysboro. Derrick Allen had two hits for Alton.

No. 25 Rockford Christian 6, Plainfield East 5
Jake McClellan
singled home Dave Prisby with the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth. Eddie Marcotte had three hits for Plainfield East, which scored three in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

No. 25 St. Joseph Ogden 11, Red Bud 0
Dalton Parker
started and went 5 innings, 2 hits, 11 K’s and 1 BB. Parker also had 5 RBI on 3 hits at the plate.  Kohlton Johnson went 1-for-2 with a BB and 2 runs scored.

No. 25 St. Joseph Ogden 13, Serena 0 (5 Innings)
 Mason Coon and Colton Hale combined for a five inning no-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Coon also went 1-for-2 at the plate with 3 RBI. Kohlton Johnson went 1-for-1 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored for the Spartans.

Palatine 4, Leyden 3
Zach Oles
went 2-for-2 with a two-run triple in the four-run third and Matthew Lamm had three hits for the Pirates. Jeremey Borgess drove in two of Leyden’s three runs.

Palatine 9, Leyden 1
Ryan Anderson
and Jack Trembley each went 2-for-3 with two RBI and four Palatine pitchers combined on a two-hitter.

Princeville 8, Riverton
Ryan Roscetti’s
three-run double keyed a five-run third for host Riverton. Roscetti also pitched the final 3 ⅓ innings, allowing no runs on one hit.

Crystal Lake South 7, IC Catholic 1
Cam Geisser
went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run double in the sixth-run fifth that broke a 1-1 tie. Winning pitcher Kyle Lang struck out seven in four innings, and Tim Siesennop allowed one hit in his three-inning save.

Joliet West 8, Yorkville 7
Scott Keiger
(2-for-3) and Thomas Murray both singled and scored as Joliet West plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth and Thomas Purcell retired Yorkville in order in the seventh to save the comeback victory. Yorkville scored four in the top of the sixth to take a 7-4 lead.

Morton 4, Olympia 2
Ryan Altenberger
led the way with a 2B and an RBI. Trace King got the win in relief.

Stagg 7, Romeoville 1
Max Downs
went 4-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI and Garret Wollan allowed two hits in five innings to pick up the win.

Auburn 6, Hillsboro 1
Tristan Weaver
struck out 12 in five perfect innings and Cayden Muench and Tai Haney had three hits apiece for Auburn.

Illini West 3, Pearl City 2
Kennedy Gooding
hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first and Ethan Johnson broke a 2-2 tie with a sacrifice fly scoring Jonah Burt in the fifth. Jackson Porter allowed an unearned run on two hits in four innings to pick up the victory in relief of Kyle Baker.

Bartlett 7, Elk Grove 1
Austin Hilvert
homered and Tripp Paris pitched five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out four.

Triad 10, Marquette Catholic 2
John McGee, Zach Kraabel
and Cole Witzig had three hits apiece for Triad.

Plainfield East 8, Carmel Catholic 3
Cole Lynch
(3-for-5) and J.J. Zywiciel (2-for-3) drove in two runs each for Plainfield East. Winning pitcher DeMumbrum went 2-for-3 with an RBI double.

Carmel Catholic 8, Metamora 6
Connor Pett
hit a grand slam was the big blow in the eight-run sixth inning for the Corsairs. Pett also endured four runs in 2⅓ innings to pick up the victory in relief.

Reed-Custer 9, Grant Park 0
Jordan Walden
and Josh Loomis combined for a no-hitter and Tommy Shaw went 3-for-4 with a home run for Reed-Custer. Walden struck out six and walked one in four innings, and Loomis struck out four and walked three over the final three.

McHenry 3, Boylan 2
Matt Nagel
singled home Matt Spooner (3-for-3) with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Dylan Johnson drove in both Boylan runs.

Wauconda 7, Woodstock 0
Jake Grobelny
went 4-for-4 with three RBI and Drake Berman pitched five dominant innings, striking out seven while allowing one hit and no walks.

Montini 2, Sandwich 0
A first-inning triple play highlighted the Broncos home victory. Anthony Rogers got the win. Nick Steiner had two hits.

Rockford Lutheran 5, Nashville 0
Brady West
and Johnny Sanchez drove in runs in the victory.

Dunlap 6, Brimfield 5
Kyle Weeks
(3-for-3, two RBI) was a home run shy of the cycle and Ben Hopkins went 3-for-4 for Dunlap. Austin Sims had three RBI for Brimfield.

Dunlap 16, Eureka 5
Collin Drake
went 4-for-5 and Dusty Nace, Caleb Ingles and Charlie Mangieri had three hits apiece for Dunlap.

Herscher 4, Crete-Monee 2
Matt Aslip
had an RBI double and Herscher doubled up Crete-Monee despite being outhit 9-4. Tyler Fisher limited Crete’s damage in five innings of work to pick up the win and Anthony Engelman.
