Riverside-Brookfield 5, Oswego 4 (10 innings)

BROOKFIELD, IL – In a back and forth extra-inning affair, Riverside-Brookfield eventually came away with a walk-off 5-4 win in 10 innings over Oswego.

Riverside-Brookfield junior Howard Hatton, led off the bottom of the 10^th inning with a line-drive single to right. Hatton then moved all the way over to third base on a failed pickoff throw with senior Asher Runyan-Randruut at the plate. Runyan-Randruut jumped on a pitch immediately following the botched pick-off and drove a fly ball to center field for the walk-off sacrifice fly, scoring Hatton.

Oswego (9-3) trailed 4-3 in the top of the sixth when leadoff hitter Cody Peterlin tied the game at four with a two-out single scoring Dylan White. White had reached on an error to start the inning. The game would remain at four until the walk-off win in the tenth.

Riverside-Brookfield jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to back-to-back run-scoring singles by Jarod Turina and Ryan Cermak. In the bottom of the fifth, they trailed 3-2 and it was the same duo of Turina and Cermak with back-to-back RBI singles to take the lead back from Oswego at 4-3.

QUICK HITS

+ RHP/OF Jarod Turina did it all for Riverside-Brookfield in the win. At the plate Turina went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk. He also started on the mound and went 5.1 innings, scattering, five hits, three earned runs, struck out four and walked one.

+ RHP Sammy Habayeb threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief for Riverside-Brookfield. Habayeb allowed one hit, struck out one and walked one.

+ RHP Dustin Wayne threw 3.1 innings of relief for Oswego. Wayne allowed one unearned run, scattered four hits, struck out four and walked three.

+ 2B Cody Peterlin added two hits and an RBI for Oswego.
