Stock Report: 2014 LHP Danny Janowski

Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director - Illinois

Today’s stock report is on 2014 graduate Danny Janowski of T.F. South HS. The left handed pitcher recently showed well at the 2014 Showcase in October where we rated him the fourth best pitcher at the event. Since then his stock has risen as he is currently ranked No. 35 in the Class of 2014.

Janowski is a lanky, athletic 6-foot-5, 200-pound two-way player who proved to be an asset all over the field.

On the mound is where Janowski shows best. He works out of a high ¾ arm slot from the left side producing an 84-86 mph fastball with cut action in the strike zone. He also showcased a sweeping curveball that he throws hard with aggressive arm action at 76-77 mph. Janowski also features a change up at 78-82 mph.

Janowski also showed soft hands at first base with fluid footwork around the bag. Offensively, he hits from a slightly open stance using a leg kick while generating bat speed.

Janowski has the frame and tools to be a solid prospect at the next level. As he matures and fills out he should see an increase in velocity with added strength. Look for Janowski to be one of the more highly sought after left handed pitchers in the Class of 2014.
