This week marks the third installment of the Illinois Power 25 Team Rankings. Almost all of the Top 25 teams did what they were supposed to do this week. The Top 6 teams, St. Laurence, Mundelein, O’Fallon, Mount Carmel, Lemont and St. Charles North all went undefeated on the week.

Below is a breakdown of the what happened over the past week.

NOTEWORTHY WEEKS

+ St. Laurence (13-0) - The undefeated Vikings stay at No. 1 in the state after a 4-0 week. They outscored their opponents 34-4 in the four wins

+ Mundelein (14-0) - The No. 2 Mustangs remain undefeated after a three-game sweep of Stevenson and five was the magic number. The scores from the three victories were 5-1, 5-4 and 5-2.

+ O’Fallon (18-1) - Went 3-0 on the week including a 9-1 win over rival Edwardsville who is ranked No. 8 in the Power 25.

+ Mount Carmel (13-1) - Went 4-0 on the week outscoring opponents 50-8.

+ Lemont (13-1) - The pitching staff led the way this week for the Indians as they only gave up a total of four runs in their four wins.

+ Brother Rice (10-5) - The Crusaders are starting to hit on all cylinders. Went 4-0 on the week, outscoring opponents 31-3, including a 7-0 win over No. 18 Lincoln-Way Central.

+ Crystal Lake South (13-0) - The Gators continue to roll with another undefeated week. The 3-0 week consisted of two wins against Dundee-Crown and a win over Johnsburg.

+ Plainfield South (11-3-1) - The Cougars bats did some damage in a 4-0 week. In the four wins they put up 33 runs.

+ Neuqua Valley (13-0-1) - The Wildcats are one of the hottest teams in the state and jumped up 6 spots to No. 13 following their 5-0 week. The Wildcats swept a three-game series with Naperville Central and took two from Waubonsie Valley in convincing fashion. On the week they outscored the opposition 48-5.

+ Oswego East (16-0) - Remain undefeated on the season after going 4-0 on the week. Now sit at No. 23 in the Power 25.

NEW TO THE TOP

+ Andrew (11-3) - Find their way into the Power 25 for the first time all season after going 5-0 last week. Two noteworthy wins came over Lockport 4-2 and Marian Catholic 12-0.

+ Barrington (13-4) - The Broncos had been knocking on the door of the Power 25 for awhile and finally make their way in at No. 25. The Broncos knocked off Elk Grove once and Fremd twice in a 3-1 week.

+ Lake Zurich (11-2)

+ Jacobs (11-2)
