One of the top arms in Indiana’s class deep with pitching, Burkholder is looking to show his potential this spring after missing most of 2014. The Louisville recruit impressed at past events as an underclassman, but a nagging injury held him back during the spring and summer. He’s healthy now and had a strong start in mid-October before a tough one at the World Wood Bat Championship in Jupiter, FL. When he’s right, Burkholder shows a fastball that can sit around 90 mph and he mixes in a good curveball with depth. He has a good, strong frame and pitches with an easy delivery. A good spring could vault him into the discussion of being a top five round draft pick.
