Cincinnati Preseason Underclass Showcase


We would like to thank all who participated in PBR Ohio’s Cincinnati Preseason Underclass Showcase. This was a great opportunity for 2016, '17 and '18 prospects to be put on college radars. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase. Below we have the complete statistical results from the event as well as the top performers across various different categories. 

In the coming weeks, we will be adding and updating profiles for each of the players in attendance, including complete analysis and video.

Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 160-pound projectable build. From the infield he stops his feet before he fields the baseball instead of working through it. Decent exchange and throw from a ¾ slot with 77 mph arms strength across the diamond. Left-handed hitter with a leg kick to load and shows some power to the pull side. Registered top exit velocity of 89 mph and ran 4.51 down the line.

AJ Raterman, LHP, LaSalle, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 155-pound average build. On the mound the southpaw has some effort in his delivery. Tendency to land open at foot strike and fall off to third base side. Throws from a low-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 76-78 mph with occasional cut. Throws a slurve with gradual 2/8 break at 65 mph and a hard changeup at 67-70 mph with some sink.

Andrew Bacon, SS/2B, Home School, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 170-pound strong build. From the infield he shows good range and clean exchange. From a high-¾ slot, he showed above average arm strength across the diamond at 82 mph. Right-handed hitter that starts with his hands low. Shows strength in his swing with an uphill path. Registered top exit velocity of 79 mph and ran a 4.59 home to first.

Andy Mills, SS/OF, St. Xavier, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 140-pound average build. From the infield he fields the ball stationary and on his heels. Average exchange and throws from a short, high-¾ slot with 76 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that will use his speed to create offense. Starts slightly open with good load. Has a flat path and sprayed the ball during batting practice. Registered top exit velocity of 74 mph and ran a lightening 4.01 home to first.

Austin Eifrid, 2B/OF, Lexington, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 140-pound average build. From the infield he waits back on his heels and fields the ball into his body. Shows some quickness in his range. Throws from a loose, ¾ slot with 74 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that uses a leg kick to load. Short swing with high finish and 74 mph exit velocity. Ran 4.52 home to first.

Austin Miller, RHP/2B, Harrison, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 165-pound projectable frame. From the infield he shows good range and clean exchange. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 75 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that keeps his hands back with a flat path that produced line drives during batting practice. Registered top exit velocity of 86 mph and ran 4.37 down the line. On the mound the righty has a repeatable delivery with some effort into it, that has tendency to fall off to the 1B side. Throws from a loose, short, high-¾ slot with fastball sitting 74-77 mph with some cut. His breaking ball has late 11/5 tilt at 61-65 mph and shows a changeup at 67-68 mph with some arm-side run.

Brady Reynolds, 2B/3B, LaSalle, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 145-pound athletic build. From the infield he shows good footwork and field the ball into his body. Opens up on his throw with 77 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Has tendency to cast his hands with a flat path that stays in the hitting zone. Registered top exit velocity of 79 mph and ran 4.58 home to first.

Brandon DeHass, C, New Albany, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 212-pound strong, athletic build. From behind the dish he really showed as on of the top catching prospects in the 2017 class. Showed good footwork and quick exchange. He throws from a short, high-¾  slot with showcase best pop times of 1.89-1.97 and 83 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that shows good bat speed, strength in his swing and power. Also, ran a showcase best 4.0 home to first. His ability to hit for power with speed should make him a high recruit in the 2017 class.

Brett Kron, 3B/2B, Oak Hills, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 175-pound strong, athletic build. From the infield he projects as a 2B type with a good exchange. He tends to open up on his throw from a high-¾ slot with 71 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that is spread out with good balance. Has a little leg kick to lead and dips his back shoulder that produces an uphill swing. Registered top exit velocity of 71 mph and ran 4.65 home to first.

Cade Rybolt, SS/2B, Springfield Shawnee, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 140-pound projectable frame. From the infield he plays too upright and fields the ball into his body. Shows average range with a stiff lower-½. Throws from a loose, ¾ slot with 71 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter with his hands starting away from his body. Little leg kick to load  with a flat swing. Registered top exit velocity of 76 mph and ran a 4.20 down the line. On the mound the lanky righty has good direction at foot strike and was able to pound the zone. Throws from an easy, high-¾ slot with fastball sitting 74-76 mph. Lowers his arm slot on his slider at 70-71 mph with late break. Showcased a changeup with good arm speed at 68 mph.

Carter Jones, 2B/3B, Springboro, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-7, 135-pound average build. From the infield he projects as second base type. His hands work well fielding the ball and on his exchange. Throws from a short, high-¾ slot with 66 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts open and goes to closed. Starts his hands away from his body with a short, compact swing. Flat path with top exit velocity of 73 mph and ran 4.65 home to first.

Chase Sanders, C/OF, St. Charles, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 175-pound average build. From behind the plate uses wide frame and decent footwork to get his feet in line. Throws from a short, high-¾ slot with pop times ranging between 2.3-2.44 with 68 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that is somewhat spread out and doesn’t stride. Small load with slightly uphill swing with good rotation on his lower half. Registered top exit velocity of 83 mph and ran 4.7 home to first.

Chase Wullenweber, C/SS, Lakota West, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 145-pound average build. From the crouch he raises early and is a little long on his exchange. Throws from a short, high-¾ slot with pop times ranging between 2.19-2.28 and 69 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that stands tall and starts slightly open and gets to even. Has short compact swing with 77 mph bat speed. Ran a 4.7 home to first.

Connor McMurry, RHP, Summit, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 195-pound solid, durable build. On the mound the righty has really showed progress. Has a compact delivery with a strong lower-½. Throws from a high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 82-84 mph with some arm side run. Throws two different breaking balls. His curveball has good depth and the ability to throw for a strike at 69-70 mph. He separates himself with his wipeout slider at 76-78 mph with tight spin and late break which will produce a lot of strikeouts. Also, showed a changeup which he lowers his arm slot when throwing it at 70-73 mph.

Corey Jordison, 2B/OF, Beavercreek, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 152-pound average build. From the infield he shows good range and needs to field the ball out more in front of his body. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 75 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Shows quick hands and a flat path that stays in the hitting zone. Has some power to pull side with 78 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.45 home to first.

Deaunte Fleming, 3B/2B, Fairmont, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 160-pound athletic build. From the infield he moves well and shows good range, but fields the ball flat footed. Shows some quickness in his arm from a ¾ slot with 77 mph arms strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts spread out with good balance. Tends to close himself off a bit with a flat swing and 83 mph exit velocity. Was 4.59 down the line.

Drew Bridge, C/2B, Fairfield, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 160-pound average build. From behind the dish his feet and arm work well together. Throws from a short, high-¾ slot with pop times ranging from 2.07-2.37 and 74 mph arm strength down to second. Right-handed hitter that is spread out that keeps him balanced in the batters box. Shows good power for his size with an impressive exit velocity of 90 mph and was 4.39 home to first.

Drew Greiner OF/RHP, LaSalle, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-3, 170-pound projectable frame. From the outfield he projects as a corner guy. Throws from a short, high-¾ slot with 76 mph arm strength. Left-handed hitter that starts open and lands slightly closed. Shows quick hands with an uphill swing and able to use the other field with 80 mph exit velocity and ran 4.47 down the line.

Drew Huffman, RHP/1B, Ross, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 195-pound projectable frame. On the mound the righty stands tall with a simple lift and lands slightly closed at foot strike. From a short, high-¾ slot has a bow and arrow action with a fastball sitting 73-75 mph. Showed a 12/6 curveball which is loopy at times but gets sharper the harder he throws it ranges between 63-67 mph. Also, threw a changeup near fastball speed at 71-72 mph.

Eli Crall, RHP, Western Brown, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-4, 180-pound projectable frame. On the mound the solid build right-hander has a slow tempo delivery that speeds up at the end. Has good direction at foot strike then falls off to the first base side. Throws from a short, high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 79-82 mph with some late run to it. Showcased two different breaking balls. His 12/6 curveball has late break and good depth at 70 mph. Has a hard slider with late break at 76-77 mph which will be more of a strikeout pitch.

Eric Young, RHP/OF, Mason, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 145-pound projectable frame. From the outfield he has good hands with a limited crow hop. Throws short,high-¾ slot with 82 mph arm strength. From the infield he fields the ball into his body and needs better rhythm approaching the baseball. Clean exchange with 80 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter with no stride to stay balanced. Short compact swing with a long finish and 75 mph exit velocity. Ran a 4.5 home to first. On the mound he does a good job staying over his back leg in his delivery. Lands closed at foot strike. From over top his fastball sits 76-79 mph with some down angle. Shows good depth on his 12/6 breaking ball at 64-66 mph. He has tendency to slow down on his changeup at 66-68 mph.

Evan Miller, RHP/3B, Harrison, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 164-pound athletic build. From the infield he projects as a 3B type with soft hands and limited range. Has a very quick arm with 82 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Leg kick to load with a flat path and showed some power to the pull side with 82 mph exit velocity and ran 4.66 home to first. He projects more on the mound at the next level. Has a quick tempo delivery with a short, quick arm from a ¾ slot. Fastball sat 82-84 mph with some late life and run to it. Breaking ball gets big at times with a slurvy 10/4 break at 71-73 mph. Also, showcased a changeup that is a little hard and erratic at 76 mph.

Evan Krimpenfort, RHP/3B, Mason, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 165-pound projectable frame. On the mound the righty has a slow tempo delivery that lands across his body at foot strike. Throws from an easy, high-¾ slot with fastball sitting 75-78 mph with a little run. He is able to throw his breaking ball for a strike at 63-67 mph with good 11/5 tilt. Showcased a changeup at 66-71 mph with good arm speed.

Gabe Shepherd, OF, Mason, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 175-pound athletic build. From the outfield he occasionally attacks the ball and needs to stay more aggressive. Throws from a long, high-¾ slot with 81 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that starts slightly open. Shows quick hands and a short compact swing with an impressive 88 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.41 down the line.

Geoff Snyder, SS/2B, Norton, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-7, 155-pound average build. From the infield he shows good range. Hands work together and able to throw from different arm slots with 72 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter with a good load and a short compact swing. Registered top exit velocity of 80 mph and ran a 4.27 down the line.

George Lucas, RHP/2B, Milford, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 155-pound average build. On the mound the right hander has a slow tempo delivery. Stays back over his back leg and hides the ball well. Throws from an long, high-¾ slot with little effort and his fastball sitting 71-74 mph topping out at 76. Showed a 12/6 breaking ball with a good spin and gradual break at 64 mph. His changeup was hard at 67-68 with occasional sink. He did mix in a slider that had tighter spin at 67-69 mph.

Griffin Justus, C/3B, Fairbanks, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 172-pound strong build. From behind the plate he has a long exchange and throw from a low-¾ slot. Showed pop times ranging between 2.27-2.38 with 70 mph arm strength home to second. In the infield he projects as 3B type with limited range. Throws from a short ¾ slot with 70 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter with a short compact swing and showed some strength and power to pull side. Registered top exit velocity of 77 and ran 4.76 down the line.

Hunt Doepel, LHP/1B, Waynesville, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 165-pound athletic, two-way prospect. From first base he shows good footwork around the bag with soft hands. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 73 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Has good rhythm, flat path, and good rotation. Registered top exit velocity of 77 mph and was 4.58 home to first. On the mound the southpaw stands tall with good direction at foot strike. Throws from a high-¾ slot with average effort and fastball sitting 76-77 mph with some sink. Throws a solid breaking ball with 1/7 gradual break at 65-66 mph. Showcased a changeup near his fastball at 69-71 mph with some arm-side run

Hunter Biddle, 3B/RHP, Lexington, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 170-pound solid build. From third base he tends to be a little flat footed with limited range. Throws from a long arm action with good accuracy at 72 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts spread for balance. Uses a leg kick to load and flat path with power to pull side with 81 mph exit velocity. His biggest tool is his speed running an impressive 4.03 home to first.

Hunter Hughes, 3B, Moeller, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 195-pounds athletic build. In the infield he shows decent range and soft hands. Throws from a high-¾ slot that is a little stiff with 77 mph arm strength across the diamond. Left-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. He does a good job keeping his hands inside the ball with strength in his swing and good power to the pull side. Registered top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran 4.19 home to first.

Hunter Moss, OF/3B, Springboro, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 165-pound strong build. From the outfield he fields the ball in front of his body, but need to be more aggressive coming to the ball. Shows some quickness in his arm from over top  at 80 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Uses a little leg kick and toe tap to load. Some strength in his swing with a long finish. Registered top exit velocity of 83 mph and ran 4.53 home to first.

Jackson Murphy, C, Clark Montessori, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 210-pound solid, athletic build. From behind the plate he has a wide frame and good footwork to get his feet in line to second. Has a clean transfer and shows accuracy on his throws. From a high-¾ slot with pop times ranging 2.14-2.25 and 74 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that stands tall. Slightly open and gets to even. Little leg kick to load with a slightly uphill swing and 81 mph exit velocity and ran 4.64 home to first. 

Jacob Lott, SS/OF, Pickerington Central, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 155-pound average build. From the infield he projects as a second base type. He starts with wide base which limits his range. Quick release  with 77 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that with a spread out stance that keeps him balanced. Little leg kick for his load with a flat path, but occasionally gets long. Registered top exit velocity of 84 mph and ran 4.5 home to first.

Jake Owens, OF, Lakota East, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 160-pound average build. From the outfield he tends to stay back on his heels. From over the top he show good carry on his throw with 80 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that starts open and strides closed. Has some strength in his swing and shows some power to pull side from a flat path. Registered top exit velocity of 84 mph and was 4.59 down the line.

Jake Schmidt, RHP/OF, Dublin Scioto, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-3, 160-pound projectable frame. On the mound the right-hander shows regular effort in his delivery and able to repeat it. Needs to lengthen out his stride and throws from a long, high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 77-80 mph topping out at 82. Slows his arm down on his breaking ball with a big, gradual break a 68-69 mph, but slow down out of the stretch at 65-66 mph. Shows good arm speed on his changeup at 68-72 mph with arm-side run.

Jake Smalley, OF/2B, Celina, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 160-pound strong build. From the outfield shows good footwork playing through the baseball. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 76 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that uses a toe tap to load. Starts his hands still but able to get the bat through the zone with some quickness. Back foot has tendency to move forward and registered top exit velocity of 78 mph and was 4.8 down the line.

James Cox, C/OF, Elder, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 140-pound average build. From behind the plate he shows good footwork, direction, and accuracy with his throws. Throws from a high-¾ slot with pop times ranging 2.14-2.28 and 70 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that does a good job keeping his hands back on his load and getting his foot down early. Shows some quickness in his swing, but has tendency to get around the baseball. Registered top exit velocity of 70 mph and ran a 4.44 home to first.

Jared Flueck, 2B/RHP, Colerain, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 160-pound projectable frame. From the infield he shows good actions and throws from a high-¾ slot with 75 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that is spread out for good balance. Flat bat path that shows some power to the pull side with 80 mph exit velocity and ran 4.5 down the line. On the mound the righty tends to be a little too mechanical. Show some quickness in his arm and throws from a high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 77-80 mph. Shows some depth on his breaking ball at 65-67 mph with 11/5 break. His changeup sits at 67-68 mph with some fade to it.

Joey Perkins, LHP/1B, Lebanon, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 195-pound projectable frame. On the mound the southpaw has good tempo in his delivery. Leans back on his lift which causes him to land slightly open. Throws from a high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 75-80 mph with late sink. He slows down arm on his breaking ball at 67-70 mph with a gradual 1/7 break. Showcased a changeup at 69-70 mph with some cut and sink to it.

Josh Glynn, C/3B, Sycamore, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 210-pound solid build. From behind the plate he has a wide frame. Show good footwork on his transfer. From a high-¾ slot he shows quick hand and accurate with his throws. Recorded pop times between 2.06-2.09 with 76 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that stands tall with little leg kick to load. No stride and rotates well on his back side. Slightly long and uphill swing with 84 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.57 home to first.

Keyaunte Jones, SS/3B, St. Johns Jesuit, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 175-pound athletic build. From the infield he projects as a 3B or 2B type. Move well with quick hands. Shows good arm strength with 80 mph velocity across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts open and closes himself off a little. Good load and quick hands, but occasionally lands heavy on his front foot. Registered top exit velocity of 88 mph and was 4.58 home to first.

Matthew Walters, OF/2B, Pickerington Central, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 165-pound athletic build. This speedy infielder/outfielder really was impressive with his versatility. From the outfield he uses a good run through and quick exchange with an impressive 87 mph arm strength. From the infield he shows good range and throws from a low-¾ to ¾ slot with 82 mph arm strength across the diamond. Switch-hitting prospect that is solid from both sides. From the right side he is spread out to help him stay balance. Has quick hands and a slightly uphill swing with 81 mph exit velocity. From the left side he uses a spread out stance with a good load and flat path and 82 mph exit velocity. Might have more success left-handed so he can utilize his 4.01 home to first speed.

Mitchell Abrams, OF/C, Sycamore, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 165-pound athletic build. From the outfield he needs to play through the baseball and opens early on his throw. Throw from a short, high-¾ slot with 77 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that starts slightly closed. Quiet approach with good swing with high finish. Showed 74 mph exit velocity and ran 4.44 home to first.

Nathan Boyle, 3B/OF, Valley View, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 155-pound projectable frame. From the infield he projects as a 3B or 2B type. Shows limited range. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 75 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts spread out and sits down in his legs. Good balance and swing gets in and out of the hitting zone. Registered top exit velocity of 79 mph and ran a 4.71 home to first.

Nick Taylor, RHP/2B, Badin, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-3, 145-pound lanky, projectable frame. On the mound he has a slow tempo delivery that slightly throws across his body. Arm really works from a long, ¾ slot with his fastball sitting 77-79 mph topping out at 80 mph. He has a tendency to cut off his breaking ball at 63-67 mph with 11/5 tilt. His changeup has some arm-side run and sink at 70-73 mph.

Nick Taylor, C/OF, Lebanon, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 180-pound athletic build. From behind the plate he shows a quick feet and a little long transfer. Throw from a loose, low-¾ slot with pop times ranging between 2.0-2.15 with 74 mph arm strength from behind the plate to second. Right-handed hitter that has extremely quick hands. Little leg kick and a short compact swing that stays in the hitting zone. Registered top exit velocity of 84 mph and ran a 4.88 home to first.

Noah Wiseman, C/1B, Marysville, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 205-pound projectable frame. From the crouch he has a wide frame, but opens up on his throw. Exchange is a little long and throw from a high-¾ slot with pop times of 2.25-2.34 and 70 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that starts slightly open and gets to even. Has a little leg kick to load that throws his hands at the ball with 81 mph exit velocity and ran 4.75 down the line.

Nolan Kestner, OF/3B, Mason, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-6, 155-pound solid build. From the outfield he projects as a corner outfield type. He does a good job attacking the ball and plays through the ball well. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 71 mph arm strength and good accuracy. Right-handed hitter that starts closed and toe pointed in with his feet together. Flat bat path with good line drive approach. Registered top exit velocity of 76 mph and ran 4.29 home to first.

Ryan Murray, SS/2B, Colerain, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 160-pound athletic build. From the infield he shows the speed and the range to play up the middle. Has soft hands and opens up a little on his throw from a ¾ slot with 73 mph arm strength. Left-handed hitter that will be able to use his speed as offense running a 4.13 home to first. He sets up slightly closed in the batters box and uses a short, compact swing with a flat path through the hitting zone. Registered top exit velocity of 74 mph.

Sam Mattingly, LHP/1B, Fairfield, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 165-pound projectable frame. From first base he shows soft hands and moves well around the bag. Throws from a long, ¾ slot with 71 mph arm strength across the infield. Left-handed hitter that starts even. Good load with a flat easy swing. Registered top exit velocity of 80 mph and ran 4.27 home to first. On the mound has a drop and drive delivery. Throws from a long, ¾ slot with his fastball sitting 70-74 with some cut to it. Throws a 57-59 mph breaking ball with gradual 1/7 break. Shows a solid changeup at 59-60 mph with some arm-side run.

Sam Sprockett, OF/1B, Lakota East, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 175-pound athletic build. Very versatile player that can play the outfield and infield. Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 155-pound skinny, projectable frame. On the mound has a slow tempo delivery that wraps a little on his back side. Lands slightly closed at foot strike. Throws from a loose, high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 80-81 mph with sink. Throws two different breaking balls. His curveball shows good depth at times with 11/5 tilt at 62-63 mph.
