Wisconsin Power 25 Team Rankings Updated

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director - Wisconsin/Illinois

Last week No. 2 Appleton North suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, splitting a double header with De Pere. The Lightning edged De Pere in game one 3-2 but in the second game De Pere’s Conner Rutherford broke the 6-6 tie with an RBI single giving De Pere the win 7-6. On Friday the Lightning took care of Kaukauna 9-3. North’s loss doesn’t hurt too bad as they managed to split but the loss does knock them out of the top spot.

After losing to Kimberly last week No. 1 Sun Prairie rebounded this week with two blowout wins over Verona and Beloit Memorial, moving them back into the top spot with their strong showing.

The rest of the top five (Jefferson, Stevens Point and Holmen) all took care of business winning all their games this week.

Holmen is only remaining undefeated Division 1 team in the rankings and has moved up to No. 3 but has yet to add a signature win to their resume. An early win against preseason ranked No. 24 Eau Claire Memorial is their only victory against a ranked team and the Old Abes are clearly not as strong as they were last year.

Stoughton and Middleton dropped out of the top ten this week. Stoughton lost twice last week to No. 14 Janesville Craig and Oregon. The Big Eight is loaded and there is a ton of parody their with teams beating up on each other.

Lake Country Lutheran stays undefeated and has the most wins in the state improving to 17-0

Kenosha Bradford, Antigo and River Falls all cracked the Power 25 this week. Kenosha Bradford lost some games in their Florida trip but has been solid in Wisconsin. River Falls has also been playing well at 9-2 with some quality wins on their resume and Antigo is 13-1 on the year.
