St. Joe's/AHP Scout Day: Quick Hits

Brady Turner
Alberta Director & BC Operations

On Saturday, September 16th, the PBR Alberta staff hosted it's first Scout Day of the fall with the St. Joe's Academy/AHP Academy Scout Day at the Gulls Stadium in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. This event featured approximately 60 players from the both organization in the 2024 - 2026 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players, as well as collect updated metrics via our tech partners TrackMan and Swift Performance.

Today, we conclude our post-event coverage with a breakdown on six standouts from the event with scouting notes and video on each.

Nathan Flewelling C / OF / St. Joseph, AB / 2025

The Gonzaga commit had one the best weekends of anyone at the Scout Day. It started at the plate during BP, his quick hands and simple load led to elevating the ball back up the middle, working up to a 99.2 mph exit velocity. In game play, he had multiple base hits that were pulled hard through the right side, including a double down the RF line. His defense also stood out in-game, throwing out 3 base runners showing off his strong arm and quick transfer. The LHH catcher is one the best back stops in the 2025 class in the country.

Dominik Morgan C / 3B / Archbishop Jordan, AB / 2025

The 2025 catcher stood out on both sides of the ball all weekend. Behind the dish, he had the strongest arm (81 mph) and best POP time at the event (1.85). During BP, he had a line drive approach back up the middle while maintaining controlled aggression in his swing, reaching a max exit velocity of 93.4 mph. During game play, pulled one the harder hit balls of the day down the LF line for a stand up double. Morgan has flown under the radar up until this point, but that should change as he cemented himself as one of the top catchers in Alberta’s 2025 class.

Miguel Tetreault 3B / RHP / AHP Academy , AB / 2025

The LHH infielder really stood out to our staff during the scout day, having one of the better rounds of BP. He elevated to his pull-side hitting multiple out to RCF and reaching a top exit velocity of 93 mph. During his infield defense, he showed off his athleticism, the ability to move around the infield with ease, and soft hands allowing him to get into a throwing position efficiently. Tetreault is another AHP Academy product that should no longer be flying under the radar, as he is one of the better defensive infielders in his class with a bat not far behind.

Cam Bergstrom RHP / 3B / Ecole Secondaire St. Albert Catholic, AB / 2024

Bergstrom had one of the better bullpens on the day and a main reason for that is his ability to locate all 3 of his offerings for strikes. He only missed the strike zone twice. He lived down in the zone with the fastball sitting 85-87 and topping out at 87.3 mph. With a high release point, he can create a steep vertical approach angle when down in the zone which will help generate weak contact and plenty of ground balls. The slider comes in at 73-77 mph and has more HB than vertical break. It compliments the fastball well and has the makings to be a swing & miss offering. The ability to locate his changeup for strikes (73-75 mph) allows him to keep hitters off balance and use his other two pitches more effectively. Bergstrom is one of the top uncommitted 2024 arms in Alberta.

Sawyer Marshall OF / C / St Joseph, AB / 2024

The West Coast Games alum really impressed both days over the weekend. He started it off by running the second fastest 60 yard time of 6.94. During BP, his quiet load, and quick bat showed well as he consistently worked back up the middle, reaching a max exit velocity of 91 mph. During game play he had 3 hits on the day, including a triple to the LCF gap in which he showed off his speed around the bases. Marshall has quietly become a player to watch in Alberta’s 2024 class.

Corbin Lochhead LHP / 1B / St. Joseph, AB / 2024

Lochhead was one of the top two-way players at the event. Elevated to the big part of the field during BP, with a max exit of 86 mph. During his outing on the mound in game play, his athleticism really stood out. The LHP had plenty of ASR on the fastball, averaging over 15 inches of HB. It sat 75-78 and topped out at 80 mph. His slider, coming in at 63-64 mph, plays well off the fastball as it too has plenty of HB, 12+ inches. Also went the other way for a base hit in-game. Lochhead will be one of the more intriguing 2024 two-ways to follow as we head into the offseason.
