Alabama High School Team Preview: Greenville Tigers

PBR Alabama Staff

The 2021 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. That excitement may be at an all- time high entering this high school season as the 2020 high school baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season during an offseason unlike any other and as always, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Montgomery at the AISA or AHSAA state championships but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason Top 10 in each AHSAA classification.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Outlook:

The Greenville Tigers enter the 2021 with high expectations as eight position players and eight pitchers return from the 2020 season. The Tigers should pitch and defend at a high level and will be looking for several players to contribute on the offensive side. Six returning players will be counted on to lead the way in 2021. Those players are:

2022 CF/LHP Braxton Kimbo: he may not be the biggest on the field but he is a hard nosed baseball player. Kimbro rarely strikes out, does a nice job changing speeds on the mound and is a plus defensive CF.

2023 1B/LHP Christian Hill: He led team in hitting as a 9th grader and is currently coming off of an ACL tear in knee from football. He has a live arm and will be counted on to pitch some valuable innings in 2021.

2022 C/INF/OF Jacob Foster: The 6'1 195 pound junior can play several positions but will most likely be an OF at the next level. He can flat out fly and shows good power at the plate while also showing nice arm strength from the OF and behind the plate.

2023 C/3B/RHP Brady Long: The sophomore has tons of potential but is very raw. He has nice power from the right side and can eventually be an impact bat.

2022 1B/RHP/DH Christopher Stinson: The 6'5 205 pound junior has a very live arm. The body is long and lanky with tons of potential and is very raw with room to improve. He also hits with power from the left side.

2022 MIF/RHP Trey Little: The junior missed last season but has good hands in the middle infield. There is some potential at the plate as he looks to continue to make small improvements.

The Tigers will depend heavily on these returning two way players in 2021.
