MONTGOMERY, AL - The Montgomery Open was held on Wednesday, June 28th at Stanhope Elmore HS in Millbrook, AL. This was an open event that consisted of prospects in the 2024-2026 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Wednesday.

Logan Knowles, St. Clair County (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 5-8, 140-pounds. Smaller stature with plenty of room for added size and strength.
Delivery: Works from the stretch primarily, smooth.
Arm Action: RH. Quicker OTT arm slot.
FB: T84, 82-83 mph. Works in the zone, locates to both sides. T2356, 2250 average rpm.
CB: 71-76 mph. Struggled with feel/command at times. Misses were up in the zone. T2375, 2306 average rpm.
CH: 77-78 mph. Great feel, plays down with arm side fading action. T1660, 1604 average rpm.

Tyler Hoomes, T.R. Miller (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/2B
Body: 5-6, 150-pounds. Lean, athletic build. Room to add size.
Delivery: Easy mover down the mound, controlled delivery. Works into the back side.
Arm Action: RH. Mid 3/4 arm action.
FB: T79, 77-79 mph. Pounds the zone, plays down. T2392, 2262 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. 11/5 shape, late break in the zone. T2281, 2209 average rpm.

Dalton Owens, Enterprise (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-9, 151-pounds. Lean and athletic build. Room to add more mass to the frame.
Delivery: Slower tempo, controlled and moves down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Lower 3/4 arm slot.
FB: T76, 74-76 mph. Occasional arm side miss. Late life, works to the glove side well. T1950, 1827 average rpm.
SL: 68-70 mph. Late break down in the zone.  T1923, 1871 average rpm.
CH: 68-69 mph. Struggled with command at times, arm side fade. T1557, 1440 average rpm.

Benton Howell Jr, Marbury (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6-1, 150-pounds. Longer, lean frame. Long levers, plenty of room for added development.
Delivery: Starts from 1B side of the rubber, good tempo. Controlled.
Arm Action: LH. Lower-to-mid 3/4 slot.
FB: T77, 75-76 mph. Arm side action, works in the zone. T1899, 1821 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. 1/7 shape, worked up in the zone at times. Developing pitch. T2012, 1937 average rpm.
