JUCO Spotlight - Brody Szako

While we normally focus our end of spring JUCO spotlights on uncommitted players who participated in one of our all scout days, we also highlight those prospects that have built up draft potential, which is why we highlight Brody Szako today. Redshirt freshman C/INF has had an incredible season for Fort Scott in 2023. In 202 plate appearances across 47 games, he has slashed .439/.515/.912. Szako has shown a fantastic blend of power and contact skills, mashing 23 home runs and racking up 72 RBI, while striking out only 23 times. He is also perfect in 2 steal attempts, and he sports a .946 fielding percentage. At last fall’s Fort Scott CC Scout Day, Szako showed off his power and his arm strength. His 94.0 MPH infield throwing velocity is elite, as are his 407 ft maximum hit distance and 102.4 maximum exit velocity. His batting numbers are supported by an 80.4 MPH maximum bat speed. With his outstanding production and power, his commitment to play Division 1 baseball at Austin Peay next year is not surprising.
