JUCO Uncommitted Spotlight: Josh Prinner

Sophomore shortstop Josh Prinner had a monster year for the Red Devils in 2022 with a .390 batting average with 3 triples, 4 homers, and a new school record of 26 doubles.  Hitting in the middle of the order Prinner was able to do some damage driving in 47 runs and showing off his athleticism picking up 7 steals as well.  Prinner had a strong workout last fall for the Allen Community College Scout Day where he ran a 6.9 in the 60, threw it 89 mph across the diamond, and had exit velocities up to 97 mph.  He showed smooth actions at shortstop and has enough arm strength to remain on the left side of the infield at the next level.  After fielding the ball at short at a .954 fielding percentage and showing the ability to drive the ball for extra bases, Josh shouldn't stay uncommitted long and will check a lot of boxes coaches at the next level are looking for.

SCOUTING REPORT

Josh Prinner: SS/2B, (2020) Mountain Home, AR. 6-foot, 160-pound athletic frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 90 mph. Started in an athletic stance, had a smooth load and used a leg kick to initiate his swing. Shows quick bat speed, a level swing plane and high finish. Was able to find some barrels through his round. Gap to gap approach. Advanced in the infield, made throws across the field up to 84 mph; had next level hands, a twitchy exchange and athletic footwork. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Used a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. In the 60-yard dash, he recorded a time of 7.03.
