Prep Baseball Report Kansas hosted the Kansas Summer Open on July 20th at Wichita State University with players coming from the 2022 class through the 2025 class.  53 players from across the state of Kansas as well as players coming in from Missouri, Oklahoma, and as far as California attended the event going through a pro-style workout.  You can click on any of the names to access the player's personal profile.  Today we take an in-depth look at the 29 pitchers who attended breaking down their body profiles, delivery notes, arm actions, pitch shapes, and velocities.

Hayes Allen RHP / 1B / Bishop Carroll, KS / 2025

Positional Profile: 1B/RHP

Body: 6-foot-1, 185-pound physical and projectable frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a high balance point.  Slow and methodical rhythm throughout the delivery.  Full weight stack onto the back leg with a tall and fall style motion down the mound.  Short stride down the slope into a firm plant leg.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound.  Gets good momentum headed towards the plate.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action.

FB: 74-76 mph, slight arm side run and sinking action.

CB: 59-61 mph, short 11/5 shape with developing spin 

CH: 70-71 mph, kills the spin effectively with short depth and arm side fade.

Jaxson Bean OF / RHP / Eisenhower , KS / 2023

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 6-foot-2, 165-pound long limbed and projectable frame with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Quick pace and tempo to the delivery.  Hand breaks from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with strong momentum headed towards the plate.  Lands into a soft plant leg with heavy body rotation off the plant leg.   

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action on the back end with a quick hand.

FB: 77-79 mph, mostly straight action with some riding life through the zone and solid spin metrics.

CB: 65-70 mph, heavy downward depth with 11/5 shape.

Beau Blankenship LHP / 1B / Andover Central, KS / 2023

Positional Profile: LHP

Body: 6-foot, 185-pound physical and athletic frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Kicks the leg up quickly into the balance point with the hands breaking out of the glove at the top of the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a firm plant leg.  Short stride down the slope with a tall and fall style motion with the lower half.  Hands work away from the body and does a good job of repeating mechanics.

Arm Action: LH.  High ¾ arm slot with the hand working straight down out of the glove and a shorter arm action.

FB: 70-73 mph, mostly straight action with some slight sink.

CB: 64-66 mph, heavy east/west action with solid feel for spin.

Blaine Bourne OF / RHP / Circle, KS / 2023

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-9, 155-pound proportional and athletic frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses a quick rocker style footwork around the rubber.  Works an up tempo pace throughout the delivery working up to a high balance point.  Hands work up and down with the lower half.  Slight coil of the front shoulder at the top of the delivery with a high glove front side and shoulder tilt.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a firm plant leg.  Heavy body rotation off the plant leg at release.  Maintains balance and athleticism throughout the delivery.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a loose and clean arm action.

FB: 75-78 mph, mostly straight action with solid spin metrics and good riding life through the zone.

CH: 67-71 mph,  short depth with fastball hand speed and slight arm side fading action.

Jaxon Bowles 3B / RHP / Manhattan, KS / 2023

Positional Profile: OF

Body: 6-foot-2, 210-pound physical and mature frame with present strength.

Delivery: On the mound uses a big rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Slow and methodical pace to the delivery working into a stiff back leg.  Body leans forward with slight drift down the slope.  Tall and fall style motion down the mound landing into a firm plant leg.  Maintains balance throughout the finish of the delivery.  Works from the third base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound.

Arm Action:  High ¾ arm slot with a long and loose arm action.

FB: 66-71 mph, heavy arm side run and sinking action.

CB: 58-63 mph, short shape and depth with developing spin.

CH: 64-68 mph, fastball hand speed with short fading action to the arm side.

Ben Brittian LHP / OF / Augusta, KS / 2024

Positional Profile: LHP

Body: 6-foot, 165-pound lean build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a quick pivot foot and mid height balance point.  Hands work away from the body and break from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Smooth rhythm into the balance point with good balance throughout the delivery.  Gets full weight stack onto the back leg and gets short push off the rubber.  Works from the third base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a firm plant leg with solid momentum headed towards the plate.

Arm Action: LH.  High ¾ arm slot with a long and stiff arm action.  

FB: 79-81 mph, very strong spin metrics reaching up to 2341 RPM.  Has good riding life through the zone.

CB: 68-70 mph, more of a cutter shape with tight spin and late break to the glove side.


 

 

 

Jackson Cross RHP / 3B / Russell, KS / 2023

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP

Body: 6-foot, 160-pound lean and athletic build with present strength and athleticism.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Quick pace and tempo to the delivery.  Weight gets shifted onto the back foot toe at the top of the delivery with the body slightly leaning towards the third base side.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally closed to the third base side creating interesting angles to the hitter.  Hand breaks from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Lands with a slight bend in the plant leg with heavy rotation of the body at release.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short and whippy arm action.

FB: 75-78 mph, very straight action with solid spin metrics.

CB: 65-66 mph, sweepy action with strong horizontal movement.

Stone Elattrache LHP / OF / Olathe West , KS / 2022

Positional Profile: OF/LHP

Body: 6-foot, 185-pound athletic build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound works exclusively out of the stretch.  Works to a high balance point with a strong weight stack onto a firm back leg.  Easy rhythm to the delivery with good balance and athleticism.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a firm plant leg.  Short stride down the mound with the hand breaking from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Short push off the rubber with good direction and momentum headed to the plate.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a clean and loose arm action.

FB: 76-78 mph, mostly straight action with slight sinking action.

CB: 63-65 mph, loopy and rolling action with developing spin.

CH: 69-70 mph, kills the spin efficiently with short depth.

Nolan Fevurly RHP / 1B / Mulvane, KS / 2025

Positional Profile: 1B/RHP

Body: 6-foot, 185-pound stocky build with strength in the lower half.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the mound working to a high balance point.  Slow and methodical rhythm throughout the delivery.  Gets to solid balance point with slight bend in the back leg.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a slightly bent plant leg.  Repeats the mechanics well and maintains balance throughout the delivery.  Good push off the rubber with strong momentum headed towards the plate.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action and good hand speed.

FB: 76-78 mph, strong spin metrics with riding life through the zone on mostly straight action and at times showing arm side run.

SL: 62-65 mph, very strong spin with heavy horizontal movement.

CB: 58-62 mph, more depth than slider with good east/west action.

CH: 65-68 mph, heavy arm side fading action with good hand speed.

Bryce Hanson RHP / Blue Valley West, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot-4, 175-pound long and lean build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a big rocker style footwork working to a mid height balance point.  Smooth rhythm throughout the delivery working to a quick balance point.  Slight coil in the hips and shoulders at the top of the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a slightly bent plant leg.  Maintains balance throughout the delivery.  Pitches with some leverage with the longer limbs.

Arm Action: RH.   ¾ arm slot with a loose arm action.

FB: 77-79 mph, solid command with some arm side run and sinking action.

SL: 64-66 mph, short and slurvy action with developing spin.

CB: 60-63 mph, bigger shape and depth with more horizontal break.

CH: 67-68 mph, kills the spin efficiently with heavy arm side fading action.

Corbin Jamison SS / C / Holton, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: MIF/C/RHP

Body: 6-foot-1, 150-pound long and lean build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a big rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Slow and methodical rhythm and pace to the delivery.  Works from the center of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a slightly bent plant leg.  Short stride down the mound.  Hand breaks from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Low glove front side with slight shoulder tilt upwards.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a whippy arm action.

FB: 67-69 mph, some arm side run with sinking action.

CB: 56-58 mph, loopy and sweeping shape with developing spin.

Mitchell Johnson LHP / 1B / Derby, KS / 2023

Positional Profile: LHP

Body: 6-foot-4, 220-pound mature and physical build with present strength especially in the lower half.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Strong weight stack onto a firm back leg with the weight slightly leaning forward at the top of the balance point.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a slightly bent plant leg.  Good direction headed down the slope with strong body rotation off the plant leg.  Simple and repeatable mechanics.  Maintains balance throughout the delivery.

Arm Action: LH.  High ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action.

FB: 84-87 mph, a driving fastball with solid spin metrics and riding life through the zone.

SL: 74-76 mph, heavy downward bit with feel for spin and solid 2334 RPM average.

CB: 72-73 mph, bigger depth with developing spin and a feel for landing in the zone.

Maxwell Keller RHP / OF / Kapaun Mt Carmel, KS / 2023

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot-3, 165-pound long/lean and projectable build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound works exclusively out of the stretch.  Quick pace to the leg kick working to a mid height balance point.  Hands rise up with the lower half and hand breaks from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum headed towards the plate.  Lands to a slightly bent plant leg.  Short push off the rubber with more of a tall and fall style approach down the slope.  Maintains balance throughout the delivery.

Arm Action: RH.  ¾ arm slot with a long and loose arm action.

FB: 74-76 mph, arm side run with sinking action.

SL: 63-67 mph, short cutting action with developing spin.

CH: 71-72 mph, good depth and fade to the arm side.

Isaac Lager 1B / RHP / Bishop Carroll, KS / 2025

Positional Profile: 1B/RHP

Body: 5-foot-11, 150-pound lean and athletic build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Quick pace and tempo to the delivery with smooth actions.  Hand breaks from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Repeats the mechanics really well and maintains balance and athleticism throughout the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with good momentum headed to the plate.  

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a loose arm action.

FB: 71-75 mph, heavy arm side run and sinking action.

SL: 63-68 mph, two plane break with solid depth and shape.

Jorge Munoz SS / 3B / Purcell, OK / 2022

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP

Body: 6-foot-2, 200-pound mature and physical frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses step forward footwork with the front foot working to a mid height balance point.  Slight stall out as the stride foot works down the slope.  Works from the center of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a slightly bent plant leg.  Good direction and momentum headed towards the plate.  Maintains balance throughout the delivery.  Slight sink into the back leg with short push off the rubber.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action.

FB: 72-77 mph, arm side run and sinking action with some command especially to the arm side.

CB: 63-66 mph, slurvy shape with loose and developing spin.

Dayton Pelfrey RHP / OF / Kapaun Mount Carmel, KS / 2022

Delivery: On the mound works exclusively out of the stretch.  Works to a low balance point with controlled rhythm on the way up.  Hands work up with the with lower half and break from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Works from the third base side of the rubber and strides directionally straight on the third base side of the slope into a slightly bent plant leg.  Maintains balance and athleticism throughout the delivery.  

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a quick and loose and arm action.

FB: 73-75 mph, mostly straight action with some cutting shape at times.

Zander Putthoff LHP / Topeka West, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: LHP

Body: 6-foot-4, 168-pound long limbed and projectable build with more room for added strength and size to the frame in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Strong weight stack onto a slightly bent back leg.  Gets good push off the rubber with good leg drive.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a slightly bent plant leg.  Good direction and momentum headed to the plate.  Low glove front side action.  Maintains balance throughout the delivery.

Arm Action: LH.  High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action.

FB: 74-80 mph, slight arm side run with some riding life through the zone.

CB: 60-61 mph, 12/6 shape with some depth and loose spin.

Whit Rhodes RHP / 3B / Hesston, KS / 2024

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot-1, 200-pound physical and maturing frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Hands work up and down with the lower half breaking from the glove at the mid chest at the top of the delivery.  Slight kick out of the stride leg landing in to a slightly bent position.  Tall and fall style push down the slope with good direction and momentum headed to the plate.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound with heavy body rotation off the plant leg at release.

Arm Action: RH.  High ¾ arm slot with a long arm action and slight coil of the wrist.

FB: 78-80 mph, slight arm side run with some sinking action. 

CB: 63-66 mph, short and early break with 11/5 shape and developing spin.  Good command.

Positional Profile: MIF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-10, 150-pound lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a step in front technique around the rubber working to a high balance point.  Quick rhythm and pace to the delivery with the hands staying mostly quiet throughout the process and breaking from the glove at the top of the delivery. High glove front side with some shoulder tilt.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally closed to the third base side creating interesting angles to the hitter.  Lands with a slightly bent plant leg with heavy body rotation off the leg at release.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action and slightly cupped wrist.

Positional Profile: OF/LHP

Body: 5-foot-8, 133-pound lean and developing build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a quick rocker style delivery.  Works to a high balance point hands working up and down with the lower half.  Strong weight stack with weight leaning on the back foot heel.  Hand breaks from the glove at the top of the delivery with a slight cupping action with the wrist.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a firm plant leg.  Good momentum and direction headed to the plate with strong body rotation off the plant leg at release.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action and cupped wrist.

FB: 68-70 mph, mostly straight shape with slight sinking action.

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot-3, 168-pound long limbed and projectable build with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Controlled rhythm throughout the delivery.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a slightly bent plant leg.  Hand breaks from the glove at the top of the delivery with a slight glove tap.  Gets weight fully stacked on back leg and has a tall and fall style motion down the slope with slight push off the rubber.  Maintains balance throughout the delivery.  Heavy body rotation off the plant leg at release.

FB: 75-77 mph, heavy arm side run with good extension down the mound.

Javan Titus RHP / Wichita Heights, KS / 2022

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot-9, 195-pound very projectable build with room for more strength to the frame in the future.

Delivery: On the mound works exclusively out of the stretch position working to a high balance point.  Hands stay quiet in the delivery breaking from the glove as the plant leg works down the slope.  Works from the first base side of the rubber and strides slightly closed down the slope creating interesting angles to hitters.  Full weight stack onto the back leg with short push off the rubber.  More of a tall and fall style down the mound working to a firm plant leg and heavy body rotation at release.  

Arm Action: RH.  ¾ arm slot with a long arm action.

FB: 75-78 mph, has some arm side run with some riding life through the zone and strong spin metrics.

Positional Profile: MIF/RHP

Body: 5-foot-9, 145-pound lean and developing frame with present athleticism.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a high balance point.  Methodical rhythm and pace throughout the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a bent plant leg.  Hands work up and down with the lower half and break from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Gets good momentum headed towards the plate with strong body rotation off the plant leg at release.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action and good hand speed.

FB: 80-82 mph, heavy arm side run with some riding life through the zone and good command.

CB: 69-70 mph, short break with good downward depth and action.  Feel for landing in the zone.

Positional Profile: 1B/LHP

Body: 6-foot-2, 165-pound long limbed and projectable frame with room for added strength and size in the future.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style footwork around the rubber working to a mid height balance point.  Strong weight stack onto the back leg with a slight crunch and solid push off the rubber.  Works from the third base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a slightly bent plant leg.  Hands work up and down with the lower half and break from the glove at the top of the delivery.  Good momentum headed towards the plate and maintains balance throughout the delivery.

Jack Weakland RHP / OF / Bishop Carroll, KS / 2023

Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 5-foot-8, 165-pound stocky build with strength in the lower half.

Delivery: On the mound uses a short and simple footwork around the rubber working to a high balance point.  Quick pace and tempo to the delivery with good body control.  Hands stay quiet throughout the delivery breaking from the glove out and away from the body at the top of the delivery.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a firm plant leg.  Shows the ability to work in a slide step out of the stretch and maintain rhythm.  Heavy body rotation off the plant leg.  Tall and fall style down the slope.

Hank Welu OF / LHP / Valley Center, KS / 2024

Positional Profile: OF/LHP

Body: 6-foot, 185-pound well-built and athletic frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style delivery working to a mid height balance point.  Slow and methodical pace and tempo to the delivery.  Slight stall out at the top of the balance point.  Works from the third base side of the rubber and strides directionally closed down the slope creating interesting angles to the hitter.  Lands into a very firm front leg with body jumping down the slope.  Gets good momentum headed towards the plate with strong body rotation off the plant leg.  Gets slight push off the rubber with some sink into the back leg.

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP

Body: 5-foot-9, 180-pound stocky build with present strength.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style delivery working to a high balance point.  Strong weight stack onto the back leg with good linear push off the rubber.   Works from the third base side of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound into a soft plant leg.  Easy rhythm and tempo throughout the delivery.  Does a good job of maintaining balance throughout the delivery.  Hand breaks from the glove with a tapping style at the top of the balance point.  

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action.

FB: 74-76 mph, slight arm side run with good extension at release.

CB: 57-60 mph, bigger shape with east/west action and developing spin.  Feel for command.

CH: 62-64 mph, kills the spin effectively with mostly straight shape and slight depth.

Austin Young RHP / C / Olathe South , KS / 2024

Positional Profile: C/RHP

Body: 6-foot, 180-pound well-built frame.

Delivery: On the mound uses a rocker style delivery working to a high balance point.  Very quick rhythm and pace to the delivery.  Weight gets fully stacked onto the back leg with solid push off the rubber.  Lands into a slightly bent plant leg with good momentum headed down the mound.  Works from the middle of the rubber and strides directionally down the center of the mound.  

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with a short arm action and cupped wrist.

FB: 68-71 mph, mostly straight shape with some riding life through the top of the zone.

CB: 64-65 mph, loopy shape with some downward depth.
