The Kansas high school season is nearing quickly, and we're here to cover it. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.

We’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

OUTLOOK

After finishing 4th in the state last year, this Ottawa team is returning a lot of key pieces from last years squad. They will look to capitalize on this experience and use this to lead them.

Losing some great pieces and excellent leaders from last years team is something that this team will look to try and replace.

 

IMPACT PLAYERS

Jake Titus 2023 P-INF Bats Left Throws Right

Jake is coming off Tommy John surgery from last year and is a University Kentucky commit. The 6-6 senior is also one of our best hitters in the lineup. Jake is one of the hardest working kids in our team. The sky is the limit for this young man.

TJ Kerns 2024 P-INF Right/Right

TJ was 9-1 last year for us. He was first team all state on the mound. The 6-0 junior is a bull dog on the mound and just loves to compete for us. He pounds the zone and controls the game really well. We are looking for him to control the infield at shortstop when he he is not on the mound.

Owen Blaine 2024 P-Utility Bats left Throws Right.

The 6-1 junior is going to be huge for us this year on the mound. Owen has spent the year getting stronger and determined to be a force for us on the mound. Last year ate some innings but this year a big time starter for us.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Caleb Hepner SO Caleb will be a great add to our staff on the mound
Carter Hepner SO Carter can change the game with is smart play and can play anywhere on the field
Grady Sumerall JR Great on defense and a great baserunner.
Cole McGrath SO Cole had a great summer and will fight for a spot in the OF.
