Player Spotlight: OF Eric Escamilla (Wichita North, 2017)

Eric Escamilla (Wichita North) is an uncommitted player in Kansas' 2017 class, and attended the Top Unsigned Prospect Showcase on Sunday.

Escamilla is a 5-foot-100 168-pound left-handed hitting outfielder.  He ran a 7.13 60 and 4.18 home-to-first.  He posted an 83 mph exit velo, and in the outfield he had an 82 mph positional velo. 

In the spring of 2016, Escamilla was named Second Team All-City.  Here is a look inside the recruiting process for Eric Escamilla.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Escamilla: Business management, Financial advising.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Escamilla: My stats junior year in high school  were .453 (24/53) with 6 doubles and 2 triples and 15 RBI out of the leadoff spot. (2nd Team All City) My team, Wichita North, went 9-12.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Escamilla: My goals for my senior year are bat over .450 and 15 stolen bases with a HR in there, and 20 RBI

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Escamilla: I play for 316 Elite Lienhard, I did play fall ball we just got done last week and will start practicing again first week of December.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Escamilla: I did I just got done playing soccer lost in regionals quarter finals, I did swimming from freshmen to junior year won't be doing it this year to try to get some muscle mass and focus on baseball.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Escamilla: My ACT was a 19 I plan to take it again in December and my GPA its 3.22 I sit in the top 1/3 of my class out of 470 students.
