The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Pearl, MS at Trustmark Park as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Magnolia State.

Team Strengths: Returning two arms on the mound, adding another arm in the mix.

Team Outlook:

Coach Vance Windom of Wesson returns 7 positional starters from last year's 16-9 roster. In somewhat of a rebuilding phase, the Cobras will look to two returning arms in big games with hope others will step up as they look to move further into the 3A state playoffs in 2023.

The Cobras will rely on a few seniors for leadership which include Will Loy (C/RHP), Gabe Selman (INF/RHP), and Brayden Coleman (INF). All three were major contributors to last years production. Selman returns the most logged innings on the mound from an season ago, with 31, to go along with 4 wins. 

Preston Selman (INF) and Landan Beasley (OF) will once again be asked to step up, as will sophomore Derrick Morgan (OF). 

Looking like the Cobras series with Franklin County could be very exciting in District 7 this spring.
