Mississippi Diamond Notes: Week 3

The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2024 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.
Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

One of the top hitters in the 2026 class got it done on the mound for the Indians as he threw a complete game shutout, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 15! |

Reid Garrett RHP / 1B / Caledonia, MS / 2026Rankings StateRank: 42 / POS: 4
Garrett continues is hot start to 2024 on the mound as he as he threw a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts and now has 20 K's in just 14 innings. |

Landon Holmes 1B / RHP / Hernando , MS / 2025Holmes was big on the mound for the Tigers last week as the righty threw 6 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, while picking up 11 strikeouts. |

Thomas Mitchell RHP / 3B / Hernando , MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 8
The Ole Miss recruit and former Future Gamer threw 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 run, walked 1, while striking out 11. |

Landon Harmon RHP / OF / East Union Attendance Center, MS / 2025The Mississippi State recruit and former Future Gamer was dominant once again on the mound for the Urchins as he threw 5 innings, allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, with 10 punch outs.

Dylan Black 1B / RHP / GRENADA HIGH, MS / 2024Black had a very good week for the Chargers picking up 6 hits in 11 at bats including 2 doubles, scoring 5 runs, while driving in 2 more. |

Braedyn Lackie OF / Hamilton, MS / 2026The Lions got lots of production out of Lackie last week as the sophomore went 6 for 11 with a double, triple, scored 5 runs, while driving in another 8. |

Hank Eaton RHP / SS / Kossuth, MS / 2024The Auburn recruit and former Future Gamer continued his solid start to 2024 by going 6 for 8 with a triple, a home run, 5 runs scored, and 6 runs batted in. |

Mason McMillin OF / SS / Mooreville , MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 2
The Northwest MS CC recruit and former Future Gamer went 5 for 13 with a double, a 2 homer game, scored 7 runs, and knocked in another 9!

Bryan Davis / FLORENCE HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2026The sophomore had a productive week as he picked up 8 hits in 11 at bats and added 3 stolen bases, 5 walks, and 5 runs batted in for the Eagles. |

Collin Cunningham LHP / Heritage Academy, MS / 2026Cunningham was stellar in relief for the Patriots with 7 1/3 scoreless innings of work, allowing 4 hits, while striking out 2. |

Derrin Randle / LAKE CORMORANT HIGH, MS / 2025The junior was big on the bump for the Gators last week as he threw 5 scoreless inning, allowing 3 hits with 7 total strikeouts. |
