Mississippi Diamond Notes: Week 6

The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2024 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.
Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

Baylor Roberts SS / 2B / Saltillo , MS / 2025Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 2
The University of Alabama-Bimingham recruit went 7 for 13 for the Tigers which included a couple of doubles, 6 runs scored, 4 stolen bases, and 2 runs batted in. |

Talon Haley LHP / OF / Lewisburg , MS / 2025Haley is known for his elite left handed arm though the Vanderbilt recruit did it at the plate last week going 4 for 5 with a double, a home run, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI's for Lewisburg. |

Gunner Gilmore RHP / 3B / Lewisburg , MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 29 / POS: 11
Another Lewisburg arm that provided production at the plate. The Air Force recruit picked up 4 hits in 6 at bats including a double and 4 RBI's. |

Easton Fesmire OF / OF / Lewisburg , MS / 2024The Northeast MS CC recruit hit .400 for the week with 3 walks, 4 runs scored, and 3 more runs driven in for the #1 ranked Patriots. |

Tri Gaughf LHP / Harrison Central, MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 92 / POS: 5
The Mississippi Gulf Coast CC recruit was big for the Red Rebels last week going 7 for 14 at the plate with 3 doubles and 7 RBI's. Gaughf also threw 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, with 7 strikeouts. |

Brady Saxton OF / LHP / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2025Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 5
The former Future Gamer and Northwest Florida CC recruit went 7 for 14 for the Cougars with a home run, 3 doubles, and 6 RBI's. |

Cayden Baker RHP / 1B / Lewisburg , MS / 2024The Baylor recruit threw 3 innings allowing no hits, with 5 strikeouts. Baker is now 2-0 with a 1.97 ERA for the #1 ranked Patriots. |

Eric EJ Booth Jr. OF / 1B / Oak Grove, MS / 2026The 2023 Future Games participant went 6 for 8 last week with 3 doubles, a triple, and 5 runs batted in for the Warriors. |

Maddox Miller LHP / 1B / Oak Grove , MS / 2025The Mississippi State recruit threw a complete game 1 hitter with 12 strikeouts. Miller is also currently hitting .429 for the Warriors. |

Brayden Moberly 1B / Lake Cormorant, MS / 2025Our Pitcher of the Week selection threw 7 innings last week, allowing 5 hits, 0 runs, while striking out an impressive 15 hitters for the Gators. |

Andrew Williams SS / RHP / Alcorn Central , MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 132 / POS: 24
The Itawamba CC recruit threw 7 innings for the Bears last week, allowing 5 hits, no earned runs, while picking up 11 strikeouts. |

Hunter Gullett 1B / Harrison Central, MS / 2026Gullett was huge in relief for the Red Rebels as he pitched 7 2/3 innings in one game, scattering 7 hits, with 9 strikeouts. |

Wes White RHP / 1B / Northwest Rankin , MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 60 / POS: 18
White continues his excellent year with 7 innings last week, allowing 3 hits, 0 runs, with 9 strikeouts. On the season the Copiah Lincoln CC recruit is 3-1 with a 1.62 ERA with 37 strikeouts. |

Justin Word SS / 2B / St. Andrew's Episcopal, MS / 2026The uncommitted sophomore went 6 for 12 last week with 2 triples, 8 runs scored, and 7 runs batted in. On the year Word is hitting .433 with 24 RBI's for the Saints. |

Walker Van Meter 2B / OF / St Andrews Episcopal, MS / 2024Rankings StateRank: 115 / POS: 5
The Meridian CC recruit picked up 6 hits in 10 at bats for the Saints last week, including a home run, 2 doubles, 6 runs scored, and 6 runs batted in. Van Meter is now hitting .408 on the season. |

Bryson Jones OF / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2024The uncommitted senior went 6 for 11 last week for the Cougars, with a double and 2 runs batted in. Jones is hitting .309 for the spring. |
