Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week: Week 3

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 3 (February 25 - March 2).

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Drew Davis RHP / SS / Sumrall, MS / 2027

Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 73 / POS: 15

Davis helped lead Sumrall to a 4-0 record for the week by going 7 for 9 with a double, a triple, a home run, with 3 stolen bases, 5 walks, and 9 runs batted in. The Bobcats are now 9-0 on the season and preparing for district play in a competitive 4A class.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Ryan Carpenter RHP / Madison Ridgeland Academy, MS / 2024

Rankings StateRank: 47 / POS: 15

Carpenter was nearly perfect in his most recent outing for the Patriots by throwing a 7 inning no hitter with just a single walk to go along with 13 strikeouts. Great to see from an arm that has overcome some injuries the past couple of years and now looks ready to lead MRA into district play.
