PBR Progress: Jace Avina

This past weekend, at the Uncommitted Upperclass event, we had a number of standout prospects that were able to log their initial verified data analysis into the Prep Baseball Report network, while others were able to update previously verified data with new personal bests, showcasing the hard work players have put in to increase their value. Jace Avina, a 2021 grad from Spanish Springs High School in Sparks, Nevada, did just that with an over .20 second improvement in his 60 time from 7.03 in July to a 6.8. Also, increasing his outfield velocity from 86 MPH to 87 MPH. Avina will be a prospect to keep on your radar as he continues this positive trend heading into his junior campaign.

Scouting Report

Fall '18 - 6-foot, 155, Avina has a high wasted athletic build on present lean and lanky frame. From an athletic background will certainly add mass and strength.  Solid actions at SS with projectable arm strength and good carry.  Displayed multiple arm angle throws and feel for touch throws as well on double play feeds. Ran well underway on double to LCF.  On the hill, low 80’s strike thrower with feel for a changeup.  Remember this name he has a chance to be special.
