Southern Athletics Scout Day: Trackman Pitching Leaders
June 26, 2023
On Thursday June 15th PBR or South Carolina was on hand at Presbyterian College for a Scout Day with Southern Athletics. The Scout Day featured players from the 2024-2027 Grad Classes.
The day began with players going through a rotation that involved running a laser timed 60 and taking batting practice on the field with Trackman collecting ball flight data. After batting practice, position players went through a defensive evaluation. The scout day concluded with pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman gathering information on each pitch.

Average Effective Velocity
Effective velocity is taking into account the velocity of each pitch, its release distance, the pitches time to the plate / hitting area, and the pitches movement. With all of this information, Effective Velocity is allowing coaches and scouts to more accurately compare how a pitch is affecting a hitter.
