SHIPYARD PBR SHOWDOWN - DAY 2

Matthew Dominianni 2024 OF Ashley Ridge HS College of Charleston Commit

Typical leadoff guy with more juice in the bat. Spark Plug for Ashley Ridge that has good bat to ball skills. Can move on the basepaths and in the field showing good range in the OF. Balanced approach with a wide stance. G2G hitter that stretches hits into extra bases.

Sterling Coaxum 2026 OF Hanahan HS Clemson Commit

Has the ability to make a huge impact on a single game just from the tools he is able to display. In his second game of the tournament he collected 3 hits with one double. His first AB showed the ability to be good with 2Ks, fighting off pitches and eventually sticking the bat out for a single. In his 2nd AB he was able to collect another single then stealing 2nd and 3rd in the next two pitches. His 3rd AB he drove a ball into the LCF gap on a line ending up at 2nd with a double. He received a lot of attention on second base disrupting the focus of the pitcher, causing a wild pitch on the next AB. Coaxum when getting on base has a chance to turn a walk or single into a triple instantly. Has game changing speed with a high baseball IQ. Tooled out kid that will continue to mature and grow into his tools.

Cole Smith 2025 RHP Northwestern

Smith has impressed at the Shipyard Showdown for the last 2 years for Northwestern.  The Junior right-hander got the start for the Trojans on Friday morning against Lucy Beckham and threw the ball very well.  He worked around some traffic on the bases and battled through some command issues at times but overall had a solid start.  The fastball was 81-83 and topped out at 84.  He mixed in some changeups in the mid-70’s.  Smith will be an interesting arm to follow this season.

Hunter Doyle 2025 RHP Lucy Beckham

Doyle gave up a couple of runs early but settled in nicely and threw 6+ innings for the Bengals.  The Junior right-hander pitched most of his day in the 78-80 range and topped out at 82.  He did a good job changing speeds and getting soft contact.  The velocity may not be the most impressive but he knows how to pitch and fills up the strike zone.

Billy Robertson 2024 RHP Lugoff-Elgin Maryland Eastern Shore Commit

Robertson got the start for Lugoff-Elgin on Friday in a very good matchup against James Island.  The Maryland-Eastern Shore signee held a very good lineup scoreless for 5 innings and struck out 4 along the way.  The fastball was up to 90 and he showed very good command throughout the start.  The Senior should have a very good season and help carry the Demons deep into the playoffs.

Andrew Jefferson 2026 RHP Lugoff-Elgin

Jefferson came in relief for Robertson and did a very good job throwing 2 scoreless innings.  He battled out of a couple of jams along the way.  The Sophomore right-hander sat 82-83 and topped out at 85.  He mixed in some breaking balls in the low 70’s.  He will be a good pitcher to follow going forward for Lugoff-Elgin.

Andres Lopez 2025 INF Legion Collegiate

Lopez is a solid middle infielder for Legion Collegiate.  He plays solid defense at SS and has a good arm.  He hits from the left side and helped break things open on Friday against Fort Dorchester.  He showed his power driving an outside pitch over the centerfielders head and then showcased his athletic ability by turning it into an inside the park homerun.  He is a fun player to watch offensively and defensively.

Connor Salerno 2027 LHP Legion Collegiate

The number 2 ranked player in South Carolina for the 2027 class got the ball for Legion Collegiate against Fort Dorchester on Friday.  The Freshman lefty started out in the mid-80’s and got stronger as the game went on.  His fastball topped out at 88 and he also mixed in a slider that had plenty of late break and was in the mid-70’s.  He is a big kid with a solid frame to build on and should only get better going forward.
